Nice shoes, not very durable
I wore these for a little over a year at an office job before wearing out both soles at the heel (see picture). Still wearable, but they make a weird sound when I walk with now. I really like the shoes, but I'd expect them to stand up to more than a year of sidewalk and office carpet walking. I had to put some duct tape on the inside of the heels to prevent blisters from friction with the leather/seams. I get blisters on the backs of my heels a lot, but I did see this mentioned in another review. With that modification, they were very comfortable, especially with my wide feet. I normally wear a 12 or 12.5 and went with 11.5 after trying these on.
DO NOT BUY- SOLES DO NOT HOLD UP
I love the look of these shoes! They go great with jeans at the office. BUT I have only had them for <6 months of very light use and the soles have already worn holes through them. The eyelets for the shoe laces are also very flimsy and poorly designed. As someone who has owned a pair of Chaco sandals (Z2s) for almost a decade and just now having to send them back to repair the soles, I am EXTREMELY disappointed with the quality of these shoes. I have long considered the Chaco's name synonymous with quality but not anymore. Chaco reached out to me, informed me that the holes are a result of "normal wear and tear" and the warranty would not cover them. For the premium price of these boots that is ridiculous!
Eyelet choice a poor design
So close to a great semi-dressy boot: wide toebox, nice design, fairly comfortable. However, instead of typical grommets for eyelets, they use the same laces but stitched into loops. So the more you tighten those laces, the more friction and the sooner one pops. Not a bother if you don’t walk in them often or for too long, but for me one loop busted after 3 months of using them a couple times a week (at least a few miles each time), and two more look close. Now I get to choose between ditching them in China and hoping somewhere has a decent size 13 shoe for me, or cutting my own eyelet and waiting for the leather to tear. Only other issue is it’s not for folks with low volume feet. Creates a pinch in the leather if tightened up
Poor lace design
The loops for the laces are cool looking, but not great design. They are the same fiber as the laces, so if the loops bust tying becomes problematic. It's not as simple as replacing a snapped lace. I bought these in August so they didn't last even close to a year. I wear them every day for work. I'm pretty disappointed- I expect something that costs this much to last me much longer. I loved these shoes otherwise- comfortable, great look.
So comfy
I've been wearing these daily for about 4 months. They are extremely comfortable to wear to work (office job) and to walk around in the city. The only downside I've noticed with these so far is the sole doesn't have the best grip on wet sidewalks and they seem to be wearing pretty fast. When the soles wear out I'm going to look into having them resoled but I don't know if Chaco offers this for their shoes like they used to for their sandals. The only reason I'm not giving these 5 stars is due to the soles.
Like the look and feel but lacing is a problem
Overall I like the look and feel of these shoes. Great with Jeans and pretty comfortable for walking. I did find that the laces were about 3-4 inches too long and had to cut them down. Also the use of the same lace material for the eyelets is a concern - but I could put some 'super glue' on them to protect them as another reviewer mentions. Would not recommend unless that issue is corrected
How to fix the eyelets and make the shoe more drbl
Durability wise, the main problem is the "line" eyelets and the heel sole. The loop eyelets can wear out really fast if you're not careful, but this wear is easily prevented by coating the inner part of the eyelet loop with superglue or same such. Simple and effective fix. Chaco should have used a more abrasive resistant line. The sole wears thru at the heel (at least for me). But then again, these shoes and Chacos' sandals healed my problem with plantar fasciitis.
Look great but hurt to wear
Maybe it is just my foot type but I have a feeling it is the suede on the inside of the heel. The suede induces friction and then blistered me up pretty good so i had to return them! Great Looking shoes I hope Chaco improves upon. Cheers.
Very comfortable
Great for casual wear.. Soft and comfy and easy on an off.
Unwearable with lace design
In 10 months, these shoes are now unwearable. Two eyelets on one shoe have ripped. The other shoe had 2 eyelets rip in 6 months, and now a final eyelet has ripped, which prohibits me from lacing the shoe. Very poor design.
