Rugged Jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this jacket for over 8 years and is always my go to jacket when I’m heading to shred in the mountains. No matter the weather this jacket has withstood the tests! I recently took a trip to Chile/Argentina and had a crash with the rock, the jacket was damaged, but minimal compared to previous jackets! Very durable! Even with the damage this jacket withstood the elements the remaining days of skiing! Can’t wait for the repair to be done and use it some more!

Best Freeride Fitting Tech Shell out there.

I got this jacket for touring, riding some resort, building backcountry jumps and snowmobiling. it excels in every aspect. make sure you order the correct size, I personally like a large fit and typically wear an XL and the XL I got is pretty giant. I would easily be able to fit into a L with plenty of room at 6ft, 180lbs athletic.

It's good.

I can't say anything about durability, I've got it for two days. I'd like to talk about sizing. After reading all these comments I was paranoid to order the right one. I've bought the same size as always and it's perfect, it's almost same as my 2016 Zeta AR, the difference is very minimal. Sleeves are wider and longer, but not too much. The insulation is much thinner than expected, but the jacket feels warm. Too bad it doesn't have any media ports as LEAF products, but I can reach my player buttons through the outside pocket, when it's in the inside one. Not perfect, but works fine. The hood is really huge, but it's easy to adjust.

Ja-POW bombproof

I just spent a week in Niseko and had four days of nearly continuous snow with very cold temps (12 F) and very strong wind (30-35 KPH) and very deep powder. The Sabre jacket is the best kit investment I have made. The Sabre kept me warm and all of the elements out. On long hikes to the summit or out from the bottom the coat was very breathable and the pit zips helped regulate heat. The integrated powder skirt is a very nice feature and worked well. I am 6’2” and 225 lbs and needed an XL to accommodate layers (Rho AR, fortress hoody and Atom LT). I don’t need this protection all the time but when I do It is worth every penny!

Multi Purpose

Sizing: I’m 5’7 180lbs with a larger athletic build. I wear a medium in jackets/mid-layers etc. When I typically wear large with everything else. Fit around my shoulders and back is perfect, the length is a tad long in the arms however. Functionality: I basically use this jacket for everything in the winter. I use it for getting around town, I use it snowboarding and I use it for snowshoeing and backpacking in the winter. I live in Northern Ontario and we get terribly cold winters of -30 and sometimes colder. However, I can wear this shell in combo with a typical base layer and either my Atom LT jacket or vest and this shell is perfect to keep in the warms while repelling the wind, snow, rain etc. Even if layered up too much the pit zips are key to vent out that extra body heat.

Large fit for the average demographic

Despite the great looking fit for your model (6'1" 40, chest) with an Atom mid layer(yes I did notice). I speak in behalf of all the athletic/standard build Oriental Asians out there (and there are a lot of us) when I say, waaay too baggy. The smallest size was like wearing my dad's coat...when I was 3. Great for if you wish to be petted by the odd adoring female but not if you wish to look your age and avoid the "friend zone". I had to opt for the BETA SV instead (the only one that comes in XS), which is great but needs a snowskirt for true versatility. If ever you need a STANDARD Asian model, 5'8" 36"chest 32"waist 30 inside leg is the peak of the normal distribution.

Incredible product

This product truly impressed me. It is incredibly light and waterproof. I live in California, so when it snow it is normally wet, and the jacket kept me dry all day. When it was almost soaked through, I would simply go inside and it would be dry in 10 minutes. I also have the Sabre pants and the pair go together quite well with the snaps on the jacket and pants. When you put on the jacket it feels as if you are wearing nothing. I liked the minimalist design of only 3 pockets. I could store anything in the pockets, they would even fit climbing skins! Overall I highly recommend this product to anyone.

The best ski jacket I've ever had

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Simply the best shell I've ever found in 35 years of skiing and being in the outdoors. Period. Arc'teryx is on a different level.

Bomb proof

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use my jacket primarily for skiing -- resort skiing, heli-skiing, cat skiing, you name it. I wear it every day I ski, regardless of conditions. I just more/less layers underneath (e.g., on a -15 degree day I'll put a heavy sweater and/or a down, but in spring I just wear a T-shirt underneath). I tell everyone it's "bombproof" because nothing seems to phase it. It's great in 80mph winds, cold, and wet conditions. I've scrapped against lots of tree branches/limbs at full speed, but my coat only shows (at most) a light scratch (rather than holes or tears).

Multi Year Review

I've had a Sabre now for a couple of seasons and we do quite a bit of back country skiing with it, and i have yet to complain about a single feature of the jacket. It's tough. The gore-tex has brushed up against many many tree branches and never had a tear. It's just the right size for me (6'2 245) lbs to add multiple layers underneath. I have been using an Atom LT for the past few seasons along with a couple wool base layers and this jacket works awesome in a wide range of temps. Get the pants to clip the snow gaiter to. Great feature!
