I bought one each for my 3 and 5 yo for a camping trip. The kids love flashlights; when they found out you could strap one to your head? well my 3 yo walks around the house with it on. It does have a tiny screw to get the battery in/out, but it also comes with a screwdriver. Security/safety is always a trade-off for convenience, but frankly, as a parent, you don't want little kids getting into things. The light output and sizing is good. One of the lamp bodies got a small crack in the plastic that holds the lamp to the elastic headband (which easily adjusts btw). I'm not sure if the kid did something to it or not, but after filing a claim on the Black Diamond website we had a replacement in a matter of days. Outstanding service for sure! Had I received a bad experience replacing the item I *probably* would say get a different kids headlamp. But BD definitely came through.
Bought as a replacement for 2 returned lighters. You can always count on Black Diamond. These went to grandchildren. My Storm is a great light too
We go put the goats in the barn every night and they love to put their headlamps on. Gives off good light for a kids headlamp.
Bought to have a cheap "everyday" headlamp but found out quickly that it was a little more of a hassle to use than preferred. To install batteries you need a screw driver which is provided. Not ideal having to keep track of something like that. When installing the batteries if the connection (flimsy and easily damaged) isn't perfect you end up standing there pressing the button possibly 3-4 times to turn it on then again off. When performing I thought it was great but I had to fiddle with the connection far too often. End up exchanging
I bought this to go backpacking. I have a small head so felt the children's size would be fine. Sizing was fine, but to change the batteries you had to use this tiny screwdriver (included). The screws were so small I thought if they would be too easy to lose on the trail. Plus, I couldn't get them out to begin with. I returned it.
I was sold this product as a kids headlamp. It doesn't get small enough to fit my 4 yr old and nothing else about it is "kids" related whatsoever. The fit sucks, even for an adult. It's bright enough and simple to use, but that's pretty standard. It's just a headlamp.
