Love these shorts! Super comfortable and chill!
Bought a pair a few months back and just ordered a second pair. These are extremely comfortable, cool, chill shorts. With the flexible draw-string waistband, and the soft material, these have a loose feel but fit nicely (they are not too baggy). I have used them for mostly lounging, around town, and some hiking. I could see climbing and doing yoga in them as well. Without a doubt, these are my new favorite shorts. Note: be careful of the size. I am a men's 32 waist and would normally pick a size medium, but I chose a size small based on the size charts, and I'm quite happy with the small. Like the fact that they have front pockets and a rear pocket.
Great shorts but be aware of quality control issues with sizing
I purchased two shorts (black and the black olive) that were the same size - XXL. When I tried them on, they fit totally different. The black had a tighter fit than the other one. When held them up to each other, the black shorts were clearer smaller (shorter length and waist not a long). To add to the frustration, I have two other colors of these shorts and those are larger (though different size) the the black olive I have decided to keep. I have experienced similar quality control issues with Prana's other products (for example the zion stretch pants). Great product but disappointing that to pay prime cost for inconsistent product.
Comfort explosion
These shorts are (or I should say were) not my style. Although, they were hanging in the changing room and in my size. After trying them on, I experienced the comfort vortex that once you are in, one cannot escape. I got the pants version as well.
rear seam seems crackingly questionable
Material is A++++++, length is good, leg openings are good, waist is good... BUTT... the way the rear fabric panel tapers in and down toward the seam as well how the seam dives forward toward the crotch as you go down on the short has the fabric trying to nestle into your butt crack. I kept trying to adjust the shorts to pull it out but I can see now on the example photo that it's simply the style of cut for the short. Personal preference i suppose... wearing these results in a perpetual wedgie. Love everything else about them tho. (ordered a large - 6'2" 180 and have "no @$$"... my back slides right into my hamstrings)
Second pair!
I bought my first pair a few years back not knowing if I'd like them. They're not exactly smart casual, or athletic, or sleep shorts, or hiking shorts, etc. But it turns out I simply live in them four or five months of the year. You can get away with wearing them in most situations in a pinch, or if you are going for a minimalist wardrobe. Probably as comfy as a waistband can be. The hemp gets very soft after some washings. Great heather colors. They don't wrinkle at all. Perfect fit, not slim or loose. This is a back-up pair in case the originals get damaged or wear out but they are still perfect so far. Great investment.
Great shorts
I have green in medium. I'm usually a 32" waist. These are great shorts for all occasions. When I forget my gym bag, these shorts work. Hiking, these shorts work. Super comfy. I've even been swimming in them. They dry quickly. My friends have all acquired them as well. I normally prefer tighter fitting, but in this case loose is great.
Nice pair of workout shorts.
I wanted something that I could use to workout in but also that I wouldn't mind wearing around before and after and these shorts have definitely fit the bill. Comfort wise I'd say these shorts are pretty near perfect. The elastic waist is awesome and the material has a nice feel to it. Though I do like the feel of the material it's just a tad thick in my opinion and lends itself to being a bit "billowy". Ideally I'd like it if they laid just a bit closer to the skin and maybe take out some of the extra leg room. Though that's just me nitpicking. Bottom line, if you're thinking about it, get the shorts.
Material is stretchy, and yet....stiff and uncomfortable?
I've owned these for a couple of weeks now and am kind of disappointed. I was hoping for shorts that would be good for yoga and basic workouts, while also looking nice enough to wear out of the house. These meet that last point, but the fabric is far too stiff and scratchy to be comfortably used for any sort of movement exercise. It's weird—there is stretch in there because of the spandex, and yet the shorts still feel like a cheap suit jacket. My guess is that it's the hemp. I might keep these so that I have more shorts in my rotation, but I don't think they'll be worn as much as other styles I have, and even then will likely just be for bumming around the house. I had higher hopes.
Comfy but watch sizing!
I'm a big fan of the same Vaha pants, have two pairs and wear them a lot. Heck, with a longer shirt the pants can pass as dress pants. The shorts seem about the same in a short version, but the small is definitely smaller than the small in the pants! The crotch is tighter, narrower/shallower, so worth noting. Not sure it's worth upsizing, but worth noting. (overall, pay close attention to the sizing on these - I've never been a small with a 32-33 waist.)
Great for anyone with an active lifestyle!
I've had these shorts for 2 weeks now and I really like them. I've used them for yoga, cycling (indoor & around town, not long-distance), hiking, and just hanging out. The elastic band fits nicely and I have no issues with them slipping down. The pockets are pretty big, but I wouldn't keep anything in there while I'm exercising because that might pull the waist down. These shorts are clearly durable, so I don't have any concerns about sitting around on the beach or on some rocks or even jumping into the water. That being said, they're a tad stiff, so they aren't my go to hang-around-the-house shorts, get some sweats for that. All in all, worth it if you're going to be moving around outside.
