I’m not sure I’ll be keeping this jacket. Love the material and fit. What I don’t love is the stitching. It gets caught on EVERYTHING including its own zippers. Planning on putting your hands in the pockets? know that the stitching will catch on the pocket zipper. Like to wear your jacket open in the front? Stitches will get caught. Many of the stitches have pulled completely out after just a few wears. I’m not sure how to remedy this. It does not seem to be an issue on my husbands puffy jacket.
I bought this jacket because all my other Patagonia items are great quality and last me forever. Today is a month and a half of owning this jacket. I am so disappointed that this is literally falling apart. I only wash on gentle cycle, inside out and hang dry.
I bought this jacket for my trip to Iceland. I also do a lot of winter hikes and figured it would be a good investment. LOVE this jacket! I read a lot of reviews and debated this one over the micronano puff. I wore it everyday in Iceland (which is a COLD place) with a base layer and fleece under it and was perfectly fine! Fits great and it so light and not at all bulky. I think if I were to buy another, I would choose one without a hood, the hood it kinda big, and I have a tiny head. It would always go over my eyes, even if I had a hat on.
I can't say enough how much I love Patagonia products overall. Great mission for the company and great quality of gear. I have had Nano Puffs in the past and LOVED them, but I wanted to get a hoody style. Of course, the Nano Puff Hoody is just as awesome as the collared Nano Puffs. I am 5'5" 145lbs and the medium is perfect for me. I like to have some layers underneath, so I always wear medium in Patagonia jackets. It is so light and lays flat (not a major marshmallow look like puffy's with more fill). It is great for the shoulder seasons and even a warmer winter day with the right layers underneath. I always carry one when backpacking, even in the summer. I also got the men's version for my husband's birthday and he loves his too!
This is my 4th nano puff (not because I’ve worn through any of them, I just can’t resist getting more colors). I have 2 without hoods and 2 with hoods and my most recent was the hooded golden yellow/orange shade. It’s such a fun and lovely color in person! I’ve used this jacket for everything from hiking in high elevations to running errands around town and they always hold up beautifully. I only wash them on delicate and hang dry when necessary. They also fold up so perfectly in their little pocket to take up less space in your pack. I should probably stop purchasing them because 4 seems like enough, but I love Patagonia and everything the company stands for so I’ll be a customer for life.
I compared many hoodies in this style and settled on the Nano Puff because it was on sale. What a bargain. This hoodie is great. Super lightweight but provides enough warmth while still being breathable. I hate all the girlie-colored clothing on the market. Only kids and tweens should be wearing those colors. So the grey is perfect for me. I knocked off one star because I think it runs small compared to other Patagonia clothing I own. I'm 5'6", 38D, 150 lbs. and while the large fits, it's not something I can layer over a sweatshirt or sweater. But a simple button-down or base layer works fine.
It's hard to find the right fit in a jacket as a queer person with wide shoulders and hips. I had a women's small Patagonia nano puff that I loved! I unfortunately grew out of it and passed it on to a friend. I tried the nano puff in 3 different sizes, including the men's sizes with no luck on fit. My shoulders were too wide for the women's large, the fit was far too big for the women's extra large, and my shoulders fit in the men's but was too tight in the hips. I loved Patagonia's mission but had to return all the nano puffs I ordered and move on to Cotopaxi. The Cotopaxi puffy I got in a women's large fits perfectly!
I love Patagonia products and was so excited to buy the hooded nano puff. I LOVED this jacket at first. I live in the northeast and it gets cold. This jacket is so light yet so warm. Great for layering. I can wear this in 35 with only a tshirt underneath and be fine (no winds). I usually pair it with a cold gear shirt or a hoodie when it is under 35 or windy. However, I am now on my third one since the end of November. This jacket is simply not durable enough to be an outer layer even in everyday/ non active wear. The seaming easily pulls. My first jacket the seaming on the cuff came loose. My second had seam issues and then a tear happened. My third now also has a tear along the seam. All happened in different spots. I love this insulation and weight to this jacket but very disappointed in the durability. Will be returning it and finding something else. Really expected better from Patagonia.
I've wanted this jacket for a long time, so I finally bought it during the annual sale. I had a hard time deciding which size to get. I'm 5'3 115 lbs, the XS fit but was a little tight around the arms, and the length of the sleeves was perfect. The small was a roomier, but the sleeves are too long. I went with the small. So, I think if you want to layer anything under it, get your usual size, if you want to layer on top of it, size down. Love how small it packs down for backpacking. The hood is also the perfect size for the right amount of coverage.
Overall it’s a great jacket, super light weight, and warm. I was disappointed to find that the threading of the jacket runs really easily and is constantly getting stuck on the zipper of the pockets resulting in dangling threads all throughout the under arms of the sleeves. For the price of this item I was expecting better quality and a product that would last me a long time, but with normal wear and tear over a six month time period I’m finding that this issue continues to worsen.
