Sizing Notes

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".

PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.

TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

Size runs large
Color, material, quality, style, price. Everything about these are great, except for the size... I bought this online against my better judgement (buying clothes online generally doesn't work out so well for me) and I got a Medium as usual, expecting this to fit snugly as typical base layers do. Unfortunately though, when I tried them on, they were so baggy around my legs I couldn't fit them comfortably under any of my clothes and I just had to return them. By the way, if I didn't need them as a tight base layer, they would be awesome as-is! The bagginess makes them an extremely comfortable pajama pant. Unfortunately it just doesn't work for me. I'm about to order another pair in XS and really hoping they fit!

Do not buy these just because you have bought the REI label light base tights before. They have changed a lot.The fabric is not 4-way stretchy; it has a harder finish and manages to both stand away from the body and still bind when legs are flexed.. And when they took the waist elastic out of its fabric covering, ditched the yoke style and made the waist elastic wider, the legs seem to have lost 1 1/2 to 2 inches in length. I am not buying a base layer so that I can have a gap between sock and tights.

Perfect sleepwear for backpacking

I wanted a pair of very light sleeping pants for my Memorial weekend backpacking trip to N Manitou Island (MI). It was probably an average of 45 degrees every night and along with my sleeping bag, I stayed perfectly warm in these tights, and I never got too hot either, which is always my concern wearing pants in bed. They did no twisting or bunching while in my sleeping bag either. As a 5'5" 140lb female, the Mediums fit very well, and the waistband wasn't so tight like the Medium size in other brands. The only thing is you have to pull up some material at the thighs if you want to sit down, as the material wants to grip your knees a bit. All in all I was very happy with these tights. You can't get much more lightweight than these!

New style waistband isn't comfortable

The long underwear I bought a couple of years ago had the waistband elastic inside the fabric casing. They were so comfortable! I slept in them when I was camping. The new style just has a wide elastic waistband sewn on and it's not as comfortable. Sadly, I won't be buying them again.

Odd fit

I bought these to replace some REI base layer pants that I'd had for years. I was a little worried about the "tights" description as I like my base layers to be a little roomier than workout tights. That part was OK, but the fabric is a little stiff and there's an odd little flare at the ankle, instead of a nice cuff. Makes it a little less comfortable and possibly a little less warm. They are adequate, and I bought them on sale, so I will keep them, but wouldn't order again.

Cozy and soft

While summer is my favorite season, I am looking forward to wearing these in the chilly months to come. Here in Colorado these will work under my snowshoeing pants, with skirts on casual days, and for Netflix and chill night on the couch. Runs true to size. Love them!

Awesome fit and feel

Love these so much I'm ordering two more pairs. The weight is just right for wearing under jeans around the house, on a long walk with the dogs, or for sleeping. Super comfortable.

Not comfy

Seems to be warm enough but not stretchy enough to be comfortable. These will likely be my last option thermals.

Base Layer for a giant

I bought these tights for my 5'4" - 115 pound wife and instead they fit me at 6'0" - 180 pounds. How is this a woman's small? Well, at least one member of the family can wear them.
