Very useable
This holster was easy to use both on the belt and on the shoulder strap of the day pack. Believe it would be easy to access in an emergency situation, though thankfully did not have to use it. Would definitely recommend practicing taking it out and removing the safety, as advised on the package. Not the most intuitive process.

DO NOT buy if attaching to molle webbing
Bought this thinking I was going to attach it to the molle webbing of my backpack. Turns out, they didn't sew on any attachment straps to the back of the holster, there is only molle webbing on the holster (see photos). So you can't attach this to most packs unless you have your own separate attachment clips. Just another unnecessary item to make this setup work when the holster should have an attachment strap built in. Returned this and bought a different brand's molle compatible holster that attached without needing extra clips.

Super product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Counter Assault Neoprene Holster is a great safety add on to back packing gear, bikes, etc. It is designed to hold a canister of bear spray. It will keep it handy in case of emergency. This holster will fasten to your pack strap, backpack hip belt or your belt.

Misleading description - No MOLLE

Contrary to the description, this does not have MOLLE straps. There are only 3 widely spaced-apart straps that run perpendicular to the length of the holster and a loop at the top. This particularly limits how the holster can be secured to a pack or belt. I will be returning this holster and getting a Mystery Ranch holster instead.

Convenient / quick access way to carry bear spray

I had been looking for a better way to carry my bear spray while hiking. I had been attaching it to the strap on my pack with a carabiner, but it would bounce against my chest (annoying) and it wasn't super fast to get it off the carabiner in case I needed to use it (hopefully not). I don't wear a belt, so a belt holster was not an option. This holster took a little effort to slide onto the front strap on my backpack, but once I got it on, it's super secure and much quicker to access. Definitely worth the $18 in my opinion.

Durable and simple

The material looks like it will last a long time. Fit my bear spray perfectly. Love the straps and how they will prevent accidental discharge. Do wish it was a little lighter, but otherwise great for "just in case" bear protection. I hike with my daughter and want to be able to protect both of us.

bear spray holder

this was difficult to get on my shoulder strap but once on, perfect. I can't get to things in my side pockets easily and things fall off the waistband. I wanted better placement of bear spray where it was easy to grab. this works even if a little expensive for what it is. fine to leave it empty if I don't need to carry bear spray.

fits the bottle well….that’s it…

This fits the can of bear spray perfectly. So that’s good. It even provides a trigger guard. Beyond that it’s not all that great. There are NO molle attachment straps…you have to buy those elsewhere. The loop for your belt leaves the can dangling from your side…not held securely in place. It’s ok but could have been better designed regarding attachment points and so forth. It should cost $10…not $16.

Failing after several uses.

I've only had this out in use several times and the stitching around the top has begun to come apart. It is supposed to fit the 8.1 and 10.2 bear spray canisters but the 10.2 fits really tight and that may be the problem. It does hold the canister securely. That could change as the stitching fails more.

Perfect for Fly Fishing with a Daypack

Very Good Product - Used it while fly fishing in Wyoming. Attached to my daypack shoulder strap and never got in the way while fishing, but was much easier to access than if it was on belt, which already had a couple other items attached to it. Fortunately never needed to access it, however, it was always where I expected it to be when I did a dry run practice.
