Perfect for petite women!
I am 5' tall, 100 pounds, and bought the children's large. I was thinking it would be a base layer for hiking, but it's also fine as a top over jeans. It is soft and light but warm; I don't find any itchiness at all, as another reviewer complained about. I'm buying a second one!

Itchy
Bought this for my son for our upcoming fall trip to Colorado. He said it was itchy. Washed it to help get rid of any sizing and it was still itchy. I didn't really notice it except when held against my face, and yeah, little prickly, but not noticeable in my hand. I guess this shirt uses thicker fibers since he doesn't have issues with his smartwool socks or my merino gear. Worth trying it, especially on sale, as it seems like a good piece of kit. As for fit, he wears a 5T shirt and a 6-7 fits him a little loose in the midsection, properly snug elsewhere, and a little long in the sleeves and torso. I doubt he'd fit in the 4-5, so size up if your kid has a broader chest.

great merino wool layer!

I love this kid’s version’s layer, as it is shorter in length and fits me well, for reference, i am 5’3 and 110lbs, i find the women’s version a bit too long for my liking, so i bought this kid’s in L size. It’s very comfortable, does not itch, perfect base layer for all activities. I even wore this in my rowing class outdoor, although it got a bit sweaty, but it dries up very fast and does not smell! Loving it!

I challenge you to find a better girls' base layer

Really nice midweight base layer. Comfortable to rest against skin. Wicks sweat. Can be washed in gentle and dried with air-only tumble dryer. I'd order a size larger than listed

Great find, all wool layer that lasts

This is our second time purchasing these. Its hard to find all wool tops for kids. This is lightweight but warm. Zipper makes it easy to put on. These went through the laundry A LOT last winter and held up really well. Will buy again!

Great winter uniform

Our son has worn these as a cooler season uniform for years now. Don't shrink, don't get funky. They're always brought down by holes in the forearms or elbows and could use a little work there, but otherwise they're perfect.

Nice base layer

This was a nice thin but warm base layer, when you feel it you would think it would be itchy but it wasn’t at all when I put it on. The fit was true to size.
