Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent design, Sometimes annoying These pedals do exactly what I bought them for, they're able to make the transition from cleats to tennis shoes without changing the pedal. The only issue is that when your in cleats and want to use the clipless side, it can be a hassle mid ride, especially because for some reason if your forced to use the flat side, they'll slip off due to lack of friction. The same goes for the opposite side of the issue. When your using regular shoes for the flats, the friction between pedal and shoes isn't really there, thus creating small and short lived issues until you can get the pedal flipped.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Commuter pedal supremo Great pedal for those of us who are already on the Crank Brothers train. If you aren't, then hop aboard! I've been using their pedals (eggbeaters, candy 2) for years and years mostly on cyclocross & road bikes and and never, ever had a problem with them. They work flawlessly with little or no maintenance and clear mud like nothing else out there. These are no exception. I'm a recent convert to the whole "don't use clip-in shoes for everyday wear" thing, so I was a bit skeptical about the efficiency of a pedal with no application of power through the up-stroke. But I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable & solid they felt while pushing hard, even uphill. These are on a single speed (freewheel) and they are just grabby enough for a wide variety of shoes (trail runners, outdoorsy casuals) that they are quite effective once you have a good cadence going. They lack the scary hobnail looking things on lots of BMX or downhill pedals which is much appreciated by my shins. Initially took off one star because when new they are VERY tight on the clip side and I can't seem to figure out how to adjust the tension. They have loosened up over time and as long as I unclip before I stop, I haven't toppled over since the first attempt to unclip. Also, they are quite heavy, but that is due to the full metal construction which should stand up to long-term abuse of 4-season use. Color on the center spring wears off with use, but its just cosmetic. All in all, another great product from these guys.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good not great Added them to my fatbike, they work well. Allows me to ride with clips or flats without changing the pedals. The cons are the studs on the platform are not aggressive enough for winter riding. They do not hold the boot as well as other platform pedals.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with my First Clipless/Platform Pedals This being my first experience with clipless pedals, I'm happy to say it's been a positive one. Fairly intuitive and easy to get in and out of these pedals, and they haven't sent me flying once. The platform side is more than sufficient, and really convenient for those days you want to just ride your bike to the grocery store. Awesome!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dad pedals I've had egg beaters for years. But since my girls started riding bikes, it's a pain to always cleat up for a family ride. These are the answer. I wasted money on the plastic crank brothers platforms purchased on Ebay, they broke in 3 months use. These allow me to ride in flip flops, tennis shoes or cleats if I want.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from versatile for commuting bike Works well as a dual purpose pedal on a bike that is used for both commuting in street shoes and more performance riding with bike shoes. A bit bulkier than the eggbeater version, but fulfills the purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent pedals Perfect pedals for what I wanted. Able to clip in for long rides but still commute in normal shoes. Get them if you know you want to do both.

Questions & Answers

do these pedals come with cleats?

Asked by: fetchowski
Yes, these pedals come with cleats.

The description refers to 2-sided entry. Is that correct? I assume it is really single-sided since the other side is a platform.

Asked by: ncbiker
This pedal offers a platform on one side and a clip-in compatible design on the opposing side. The clip-in side is accessible from two angles but cannot be accessed from the platform side of the pedal.
