Good but not great

I purchased these and have used them many times and have no complaints per se. But having since purchased other crampons for ice and ski mountaineering, I'd like to share some insight. For the price, I don't see the value. Durable, yes. Simple yes. But heavy, and really only good for glacier travel as the front points are blunted. The petzl irvis hybrid, for example, are lighter, can accommodate a wider range of boots, have more aggressive front points that could be used to tackle up to WI3 in my opinion, and are $20-$60 cheaper depending on where you buy from. They're totally fine. But for the money, there are some more favorable alternatives out there.

Compatible with Petzl FIL FLEX Toe Bail

I got a little spending happy and accidentally purchased these for my Scarpa Charmoz, which do not have a toe welt. Knowing this originally, I would've bought the Sabertooth Clip, but instead of returning them I searched for a viable way to convert them into semi-automatic crampons. Unfortunately, Black Diamond doesn't make a toe bail to do so, and the only option I found was the Petzl FIL FLEX toe bail. I wish that BD made something because I'd prefer to buy from them. The Petzl piece just came in and fits perfectly and now I can fully utilize these crampons for some big days in the mountains!

Strong glacier mountaineering full auto crampon

This is a great piece of equipment from BD. I wear them with my lasportiva Nepal EVOs and they fit great. Easy in and out, the cinch clip in the back is strong and durable so far. These are great for glacier travel with the flat teeth in the front. Definitely my go to so far for anything steep and snowy in the PNW. The strap is simple and easy to use. I keep the extra length in my gaiters. Not the lightest, but I don't notice the weight at all on my feet. Extremely reliable so far.

Good crampon for mountaineering and glacier travel

The Sabretooths are a good crampon for mountaineering and glacier travel. I've fit them on La Sportiva Nepal Cubes, La Sportiva Baruntses, and Scarpa Freedom SL boots, with the different toe bails, and used them on climbs in the Adirondacks, Whites, and on Cascade Volcanoes. Removing the toe bails is a pain, but no worse than Grivel or Petzl crampons. I girth hitch a sling to the outside of the toe bail, step on the crampon with a boot and pull like heck on the toe bail to get them off.

Fantastic Automatic Crampon for mountaineering

I have used these for two years on two different pairs of B3 boots. They hold great and the rear adjustment know works well even in the cold and snow. The stainless crampons have held up really well even with some rock along my routes. Can be used to kick in moderate ice, just not for vertical ice. They stay clean even in warmer conditions. Traction is excellent. Highly recommended.

Worked great with big Nepal Cubes

I have size 47.5 Nepal Cubes and these worked great without using the longer flex bars that I thought I needed.

Did the job, absolutely no complaints

Used these on my first mixed terrain summit (Lobuche, Nepal). Easy to get in and out, worked great on a variety of terrain (some rock, packed snow, ice) with fixed ropes. Never had problems with accumulation. Fit well with my 49 La Sportiva G2 Evo. Very secure fit and feel.

they work

They kept my feet affixed to glacial ice for 4 days. Mark it down as a win. Oh, and they are easy to get on.

Satisfied. Not conclusive.

Haven’t used in field yet. Appear to be very sturdy and well manufactured. Only skepticism is the toe bail has little contact to boot (La Sportiva G2 SM). Extremely comfortable. Fits my foot very well. In other boots I wear an E or EE. I have a wide foot and these are one of the best fits I’ve ever had upon initially putting on a boot.

Good crampons for PNW

Easy to put on and adjust. I tuck in the extra length into my gaiters. Used for mountaineering/glacier travel in PNW (Mount Saint Helens, Mount Rainier) and worked well and as expected. Felt secure on feet and didn't have any troubles with them
