Rated 4 out of 5 by from looks great, (fairly) lightweight, awesome grip! I run Canfield Crampons (my fav's) on my primary bike (Giant Reign) as well as on my DH bike (Canfield Jedi). However, I didn't want to spend another $150+ each for pedals for my other bikes (fatbike, ebike, single-speed 9er). Chesters are 1/3 of the cost of the Crampons & offer excellent grip, are fairly light, and look nice! Another plus is when they get bashed & scratched, they still look great - unlike metal pedals where the anodizing/paint gets scratched or rubbed off. Next to the Crampons, the Chesters are my next favorite pedals & will soon get these outfitted onto my wife's & kids' bikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adjustable pins! I've been using these pedals daily for 2 weeks and I love them. They are broad and lightweight. The pins are adjustable. I like to ride in sneakers and sandals so I unscrewed the outer pins until they were flush with the pedal. Now I have pins to grip my shoes but not so many that I fear they going through a flip-flop or so I can adjust the pedal at a red light with my toes without them bleeding. :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good grip on shoes The bearing in my factory pedals on my Trek Mamba wore out. They are throw away pedals. These have serviceable bearing so all I have to do next time is change bearings. The replaceable spikes grip my shoes very well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, Light, Flat pedal for price I replaced these from clipped XT pedals on my Enduro mountain bike after I was not able to un-clip in time on a technical section. I am surprised how well these grip (once I stopped lifting my foot off). I would buy these again. I still use clipped pedals on my XC bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Bought these for an adventure race. Good balance between weight price and performance. I usually ride clipless but never slipped on these (except on the first hill when I tried to "pull up" by habit. Really happy with these and would buy again. The pad size was perfect for running shoes or trail shoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pedal, low price I bought these to replace the stock pedals that came with a bike I bought at my LBS. These pedals have plenty of grip and maintain grip in both dry and muddy conditions.

1) Are both surfaces of the pedal usable? 2) Is there any shoe compatibility. My use is for mountain biking.

Asked by: Mehr
Yes, both sides of the pedal can be used. Here is a link for mountain bike shoes for Platform pedals: https://www.rei.com/c/mens-mountain-bike-shoes?r=category%3Acycling%7Ccycling-shoes%7Cmountain-bike-shoes%7Cmens-mountain-bike-shoes%3Bcleat-design%3APlatform&pagesize=90&ir=category%3Amountain-bike-shoes

Will these work with a Shlumpf drive? I'm concerned that the spikes will make it hard to rotate my shoe/shift.

Asked by: Jason the Dancer
These pedals should mount to a Shlumpf drive just fine. The traction pins can be adjusted with washers or removed if they prevent you from shifting.

Will any bike shoe work with these pedals? I have Giro WHYND and my husband has Bontrager SSR Multisport. Thank you.

Asked by: KittieKat
The Chester Platform Pedals will actually work with any shoe, as they are not clipless pedals. They have a flat surface on both sides and pins that dig into the soles of your shoes to provide grip.
