Great Stability for Hiking in the Forest

I wanted these hiking boots for exploring some forest "trails" that have been roughed out in a large, heavily wooded area between housing subdivisions. My grandchildren go there to play, so I wanted to hike the area with them. The "trails" have rocks, sticks, mud, and dried branches hanging from trees. There is a lot of climbing up on slippery grass at the trail entrances, and climbing down inside the forest toward rivers, across one of which is a children's tree house. The builders left extra pieces of wood and other building materials on the ground. So, I figured I woukd need shoes or boots that gave me good stability and traction. I found these wonderful hiking boots that are perfect for these types of forest areas at REI's Outlet store. They were even on sale, much less than $100, and I ordered online. I wasn't that sure about buying boots online that were on sale online at an Outlet. No worries. They arrived early and feel super comfortable right out of the box. I am 69, and I thought I was past hiking due to not being stable enough. I realize that I'm not too old to wear hiking boots like I did when I was younger. The key was going back to buying REI boots.

Superior support for Arthritic feet
I was looking for a summer hiking shoe that could take over from my winter ones. Very few offered much in the way of being breathable. This shoe runs true to size. The toe box is wide enough and doesn't cramp my feet. My only complaint is there is not a lot of arch support for high arches, so in go my insoles. These will definitely give me the support to keep these old arthritic bones from moving around and aggravating them. TY MERRELL!!!
