Soles sliding back in the shoe. They don’t seem glued securely.
I bought these for a 3 week all terrain daily wear in Europe. City, castles, hills, hiking, rain. OMG, these were perfectly comfortable, zero issues, and a spot on size 14 foot match (important for us large size guys). I have bought several Merrell shoes now, but the efficiency of these particular shoes, and the fit, combined with versatile colour made the need for any extra footwear unecessary. In case my review isn't clear .... two thumbs up on these!
I recently competed in the Back to Bataan Memorial half marathon wearing these shoes. Ten days earlier I had gone on a 10 mile walk wearing my waterproof Merrill Moabs, which was a mistake and I should have known better. I developed a large blister due to the heat, which I medicated prior to the BTM event. Worried about what shoe to wear, I purchased a pair of the Speed Strike 2, and had exactly 3 miles on them when I entered the race. It was the smartest decision I made. They were light and handled the dirt and sand perfectly, and I couldn't even tell I had an issue with the blister. My feet got a little dirty, but I never felt over-heated. They were great right out of the box.
Comfortable and durable. Very easy to break in as well.
A small fortune wasted, now that I will probably drop all my other shoes I'll not be needing anymore off at Goodwill! But for trail walk/runs with my husky, or running into the hardware store, on pavement, these are so great, solid, hug your feet to the ground - the fit, the drop, light weight, the perfect amount of cush... for my feet, weight (155), build, etc.. these are the best shoes I've ever owned, including some other Merrell's (Moab3 and Agility Peak) that have their niche. My feet have never been this spoiled.
I have been wanting to get away from other Brands of main stream sneakers and go a different route. I saw these Speed Strike 2 in Fungi and ordered them. They look Awesome and they feel great. I have been dealing with planters fasciitis in both feet and these from the very first time I wore them have helped put that fire out. My feet feel better when and after I wear them. The only thing that I have seen that I wish was a little better is these shoes look great, feel great, and on 95% of surfaces are better than most shoes, however on some wet surfaces like linoleum or tile they are slippery. I wish that was better but it's not enough to turn me away. I can gladly say that I have left Flashy Sneakers and found a lot better shoe that makes my feet feel better, looks great, and performs! Merrell is now my go to for foot wear!
perfect lightweight hiking shoe for the outdoors. I took these to Alaska on vacation and put them to use. Hiked trails, mountains, roads, rivers, explored tidepools you name it. all around a great shoe. I would recommend pairing these with a good insole if you plan to use them for long periods of time as the bottom of the sole (outside the shoe) is very rigid and durable, but at times the stiffness and hardness can be felt on the bottom of your foot.
I purchased a pair of these Speed Strike 2 about 3 weeks ago. They felt fantastic in the store and still do. The only issue I have with them is my feet feel hot in them like they don't breathe well. They are very comfortable, and I walk trails daily, but I will only be using them in the winter months when it's cooler outside.
I use these shoes for daily wear in the office, walking around campus, and while instructing. I am happy with the quality, and they are comfortable. My only complaint is that they make my feet stink. I know my feet don't smell like roses, but I don't have this level of funk when I wear my hiking boots or sneakers.
I can't tell you why, but I feel like these should have been better designed (aesthetically). I understand that these have since been updated so I am grateful for that. They fit perfect, they are comfortable, I work on my feet 10 hours a day and I don't feel like it anymore.
