I purchased this for an in-between jacket for walks/hikes. I originally purchased my usual size of M, but it was slim fitting with just one shirt underneath it. Returned it for a L and while it's a little big and long in the arms, I like the option to wear an additional layer underneath. For reference, I'm 5'4 and 140#. Two negatives is the hood is rather large with no way to tighten it and the zipper is not as heavy duty as I would like. It does have 3 good pockets and the large partially covers my butt which is what I was going for! I wore it today in 40 degree/windy weather with a tank and one long sleeve and was very comfortable. Overall, a good jacket that I see being used often this time of year.
I always bring this jacket along as it is versatile, lightweight, warm and durable. I have owned 2 similar jacket made by Patagonia and this Ghost Shadow hoody is superior in fit, warmth and appearance. Camping in Alaska in early May or as an extra layer skiing in Minnesota-it is the go to jacket for me. Medium allows room for a base layer, mid layer and bibs for me 5’6, 140#.
Great light jacket. Light weight. Not stiff or marshmallow feeling. Easy to move around. The slightly cut-in torso makes it flattering. Not too boxy. Length hits just above my hips. Sleeves seem a tad narrow, but I don’t plan on wearing a bulky sweater underneath. Good for chilly, Spring weather. I have owned a Ghost Whisperer for 2 years which is perfect for snow wearing just a T-shirt underneath. (It was worth every penny!) This Ghost Shadow will need a long sleeve shirt for more warmth, if needed. Great for 55-60 degree weather. I did get hot after light exercise, so not sure how breathable it is. But then again, I just want to stay warm. Wind does not whip through it. I love it!!! Thank you, Mountain Hardware for outstanding useful products.
I've had this jacket for over two months (late Nov-early Feb). I live in Minnesota. This jacket is so light and doesn't weigh me down, yet it's so well insulated that I can snowshoe and walk in teen temps and above with just a long-sleeve performance shirt and this jacket, and I stay plenty warm. It doesn't let the wind in. When the temp dips into single digits or less, I just add a fleece jacket under this one to add some warmth. It has a large internal pocket, and the two outside zip pockets are big enough to fit my smartphone that has a large screen. The cut of the jacket is flattering and I like that it ends just below my hips. I am very happy with this jacket! Sizing tip: I often wear XS and bought this in a small based on sizing suggestion. It fits perfectly.
I’ve had a Patagonia Nano Puff for years that I finally needed to replace. I was sad that the newer version was too tight across the shoulders for my broader build. Enter the Ghost Shadow! What a find! Roomy in exactly the right way (not oversized or boxy) and so comfy. I’m stoked to have another lightweight synthetic option since I don’t like the fuss of caring for down. I’ve worn it out on a few cold days and it does a great job blocking wind. Excited to bring it on all my backpacking trips this summer!
I'm a long-time fan of the Ghost Whisperer, but I wanted something that could withstand getting wet a little bit better. So I was delighted to find the Ghost Shadow last year. It's super light, super comfortable, very warm. It was great in Berlin last March just before the world went coco loco. Looking forward wearing it this winter. And I hope Mtn Hardwear keeps making it!
Outstanding, as it’s water RESISTANT, yet soooo lightweight and compact. Gearing up for a section hike on the Washington PCT, so these puffy, poofy, sweater (whatever) jackets are a must. The girlfriend gets cold more than most, so….. Oh, and the price is right!
Lovely lightweight medium warm jacket. The colors are attractive. I would like the pockets to be a bit deeper. It folds into a pocket, just barely. And It would be nice if it were a few inches longer. And a double zip would make it perfect.
Awesome down jacket! I love the color and it is super lightweight. I am 5'6 and usually wear size 10/12, and the large is perfectly snug. The only thing is that the sleeves are a little too long, but not a deal breaker by any means
I’m 5’3” and 110lbs. The small fits perfectly; maybe slightly on the snug side, which is perfect to layer under my larger down coat. Comfortably warm with a long sleeve down to about 40 degrees. Super light and great for hiking!
