Solid sun shirt
Received free product
I like this sun shirt more than I thought I would! It's loose around the body and sleeves so it's perfect to protect from the sun on hot days but won't stick to you. It's incredibly lightweight and it almost feels like you're wearing nothing! I appreciate that the sleeves cinch at the wrists but loose enough to easily go over my watch. The half zip makes it easy to take on and off - another plus when you're sticky and sweaty. While the proportions of the shirt fit me fine, I can see how it wouldn't be as versatile for taller and longer-limbed folks. I'm 5'3" with short arms and the sleeves were just barely long for me. It feels a little cropped, i.e. when I raise my arms it shows my belly - so I imagine on taller people, it will be quite cropped. Overall, I like it enough to add to my rotation - especially as an overshirt over tank tops or sports bras - but I don't know that it will replace my other Patagonia sun shirts.

Super Lightweight Shirt
Received free product
This long sleeve shirt is super lightweight. I think it will be perfect for sun protection on hot summer days to come. The mint color looks flattering on me. The material is stretchy, which was great when I wore it to yoga class. However, the shirt sleeves are too short for me. I went a size up to a large knowing that I like a loose fit. Any arm movement and it becomes a ¾ length sleeve. The same goes for the overall length of the shirt. It is more of a crop fit on me. I wear a tight-fitting tank underneath, and it looks fine. I would be too self-conscious to wear it without a tank underneath. The shirt also wrinkles easily.

Lightweight simple top

Received free product

I think this would be a great top for summer river trips, exposed hikes (to protect from sun and bugs) and camping/backpacking. I liked how lightweight and packable it was. Color was a lovely light blue/green. Not quite my style, but very sporty and clean looking. Pros - Lightweight - Packs into its own pocket Cons - Fit is a little weird, but could be personal preference - too short and sleeves sit in a weird spot

perfect sun shirt

Received free product

I had been on the hunt for a versatile and attractive sun protective shirt and this is the perfect one. The fabric is amazing, almost like a soft windbreaker. Lightweight and seems durable. Best of all doesn't seem to wrinkle. I got the light green color which is beautiful. The fit is great. Not too tight or too loose. I love the slightly cropped length and it has an elastic band around the bottom to hold it in place without being constricting. I live in southern California and this is a shirt I could wear year round. So far I have worn it hiking and to the beach and has been comfortable and breathable.

New favorite sunshirt!

This is, by far, my favorite sun shirt (and I've tried many)! It helped keep me cool during a 100 mile race in Florida, so it can definitely handle heat and humidity. The fabric is extremely light weight, but it also is a bit delicate, so keep that in mind when choosing what type of adventure to use it for (wasn't an issue for "just" running, but it might not do as well with a fully loaded pack on top). The main reason I bought this one was because of the zip and no hood. Hoods are always awkward on me (and don't do great with my long ponytail), and I loved that I could adjust the zipper if the neck started to feel claustrophobic.

Lightweight, comfortable and breathable.

Received free product

I really like this shirt, it's super comfortable, a great length for someone who is tall (I'm 5'10") and a nice layering option. I was able to play tennis in it comfortably and think it will be a great option for keeping the sun off me even in the warmer months of the year.

Love the fabric, but the cut is not for me.

Received free product

Nice, light fabric helped keep me cool on humid hikes. I didn't sunburn through the fabric at all. However, the cut just didn't work for me. I don't have a long torso, but this barely covered me. It fit more like a crop top, making it difficult to be my only top. Wearing another shirt under this defeats the point of the wicking fabric.

Like the fit, but would love a little more length.

Received free product

I like the quality of the shirt a lot, but it’s a tad short for my liking. The fit is otherwise good and comfortable. Fit well on a very recent post partum body. It was great for running in early spring as it added warmth without adding too much heat. Would be great for hiking as well as it’s breathable.

Go back to old version, add some length

I had one of these from 4 years ago in M, and love it, but it got snug during covid so I was happy to find it again and order the next size up--but it is NOT the same: I am short 5'2 and this one is way TOO short for me! I'm afraid it will ride up with my back pack on and I am bummed because I loved my other one. It also was HUGE across, and I probably could have taken a M in this version. Pros are the material has some stretch, but it also weighs 2 oz more than the previous version with a featherlight nylon feel. I plan to return it and maybe they will go back to the longer length next year, then I'll try it again. I usually love Mountain Hardware, and the Medium usually fits perfect, but this one dissapointed me.

Super light and airy with a sneaky fun feature!

Received free product

I received the Mountain Hardwear Sunshield half-zip shirt free from the REI Trailblazers program in exchange for my honest review. The first thing I noticed when I received this shirt is how lightweight it is. It's incredible how it hardly felt like I was wearing it. Mineral spring is a gorgeous mint green and I liked that it is somewhat cropped but not too short. Because it is so lightweight, it is also very airy and has a cooling effect when wearing it outdoors and active. It could certainly be used as a base layer for cooler days. I also appreciated the fact that it is UPF50. The sleeves are also looser and not tight and in my opinion this makes it even more comfortable. As a bonus added feature, it has a little pocket inside that can be used to tuck the shirt inside for packing! The pouch's cover folds over to close it and there is a little loop that can keep it hooked in your pack or on a beaner for easy reach and storage. This is such an awesome feature that is so stealth I didn't even realize it had that at first! The one downside is it does wrinkle pretty easily while in its pouch and the wrinkles do not come out on their own very quickly. Overall though, this is an incredibly lightweight, stylish yet versatile shirt and I would highly recommend it.
