Just buy it!
Best purchase I’ve made, I were it for every hike and love how light weight it is!! Wish they would make more that aren’t tie-dye.
Great length, less-than-great environmental impact
I primarily wear high-waisted shorts and wearing a long sun hoody defeats the purpose of flattering shorts so this sun hoody is just what I wanted. My one issue is that Mountain Hardwear doesn't really keep up with competitors in the sustainability realm - there's really no reason for this hoody to be made of virgin polyester, or even synthetics in general since there are so many natural fabric options being used by competitors (merino, bamboo viscose, modal). I'm stoked I have this and would buy more of these in a second if Mountain Hardwear levels up, but I'll probably just shorten some of my older hoodies for now.
So comfortable!!!
This is one of my favorite tops of the year! I love the material and how stretchy it is. The hood and thumbs holes are a must. And I'm all for a crop. I've worn this multiple days in a row on a few climbing trips and it holds up well. Ans it's so comfortable that I don't even notice that I'm wearing it. I wear it at the crag, on my SUP, and out for beers afterwards. With all of the compliments I receive, ya'll, I can't recommend enough!
Love it!
5’1”, 140lbs, 34DD and I got a small which fits perfectly! The fit is spacious enough for my chest, flowy around the waist, and fitted on my arms. Very flattering. Shoulder seams don’t make me feel constricted. Hits a little below my natural waist. Keeps me cool and dry. Fabric is thin and comfortable 10/10 want to buy more but everything is out of stock!
Love!!!
LOVE this sun shirt! It is so lightweight, buttery and the crop is perfect for me. I have used it for tons of outside adventures (hiking, climbing, some light field work) and it has performed well for all. The only downside I have found is that it sits above my harness when belaying, which can cause some rubbing and makes me wonder if I'll get a weird sunburn on my lower back one day while climbing this summer. I have a longer torso, so others may not have this problem. Otherwise, I love it and it might be my favorite clothing purchase in a while :)
Amazing and soft - needs new colors
This is an amazing sun hoodie and I like that it has a zip to regulate heat, I especially like that it doesn't have the silly drawstrings of the other Crater Lake hoodie (I miss the active line), and super soft and strong UPF rating for desert hiking. But for the love of god - can you please treat women like adult humans or just like humans and give us more color choices? Why is everything teal or pink tie die? The white is amazing! But we need reds, oranges, greens, blues. PLEASE.
Airy and thumbholes, yay!
Love this top, wearable in hot weather d/t the zipper and short length, features that provide some ventilation. Normally don’t wear crop tops but made an exception for this one. However, it fits well only because I sized up. Otherwise, sleeves would have been too short and overall not as airy. I bought an XL, but generally am an L. 5’11”, 155 lb, 36D. Oh also love that it comes in BLACK! Have the tie dye too, but tend to reach for the black more.
Lots of positives but….
I bought this as an alternative to my other 2 sun hoodies, as I was just too darn hot in those in very exposed conditions. I haven’t had a chance to test it in those harsh conditions, but my first impression is that the fabric is very lightweight and breathable. I like that it’s cropped to allow airflow from below, but I’m not sure yet if the shortness will leave my midriff too exposed to sunburn. Also, I haven’t tested out whether the shirt will ride up my back when I have a backpack on. I’m 5-3, 123 lb and purchased a small, which feels right to me. I considered swapping for a medium, but on me I think it will be too much fabric. Also, when I have the hood on, it seems to hike the back up even shorter. But the style is unique, incorporating both the quarter zip and shorter length along with light fabric, so I’ve decided to keep it and give it a chance.
The Perfect Sun Hoody, So Good I Bought Two!
The Crater Lake fabric is unbeatable, hands down the best sun hoody material out there. I especially love the fit of the Crop Zip version over the Long Sleeve Hoody. It was so good, I had to get a second one! The neck coverage, half zip, hood, thumbholes, and cropped fit all work perfectly for me. I’d love to see a Crater Lake Crop T-shirt released next spring, fingers crossed!
Great Addition
I own other crater lake styles and I love this addition! I wanted the hood for sun protection, but didn't want the waist drawcord of the other hood option. This shorter length is modern and zip is great for cooling off on hot days. I don't like wearing sunscreen so these tops are great for all types of summer activities.
