Nice watch!
Just got the watch set up and starting to learn my way around. Once I understood the basics of the user interface it's proved quite clean and easy to use. The large and brilliant AMOLED display is great. I had some reservation about the size when I placed the order, but after wearing the watch for a short while decided that the size is good for me in terms of looks, easy reading and screen navigation. I’ve done a lot of web searching to learn about how to deal with maps and routes because I wanted to try out the watch recording a bike ride using GPS navigation. The Wi-fi based offline map selection/download process is very nice except that the downloads take a very long time. This came as no surprise based on reviews I’d already read. I selected maps for a handful of states in the U.S. plus several European countries (and specific regions within those countries) I’ll be visiting next year and had the downloads running for perhaps 2 hours before going to bed. They all completed sometime during the night with no errors. My test bike ride was 32.5 miles as recorded using my reliable Hammerhead Karoo 2 bicycle GPS, but the Suunto watch measured this ride as 37.7 miles, as well as often showing the route line to be way off its actual path, so something was quite a bit amiss with the watch's GPS accuracy in this case. Feet of ascent measured by the watch was fairly close to what was recorded by my Karoo 2 as well as my wife’s Garmin bike unit. For what it's worth this test ride was on a very dense tree lined route, possibly a factor in the GPS accuracy. The linkage to Strava worked fine, so it's good to know that the watch can perform at least some degree of bike ride navigation and data recording as necessary. This ride consumed 8 percent of the battery by the way, doing GPS recording for just over 3 hours, so I'm pretty happy with that. Looking forward to trying some hikes as well and just spending a whole lot of time further exploring what this device is capable of. So far I am delighted.
Visually nice but a pain to use
All kinds of software bugs out of the box. Raise to wake doesn’t work, gps is slow to connect, all kinds of bugs
