Love this bag! It's sleek-looking and can fit a lot without feeling uncomfortable on my shoulders. I'm glad I opted for the weather-resistant version because my items feel more protected, and I'm not worried about some snow damaging it. My only complaint is that it's a little awkward to get on and off, and it's hard to swing it around on one shoulder to access the zip pocket - reaching inside for one's keys often means just having to take the whole backpack off in order to rifle inside. But it's a small inconvenience for a great bag.
The material, the clasps, and the primary structure of the bag is precisely what I wanted, but, as another reviewer also stated, the straps aren't adjustable enough. I'm on the petite side but the shortest length of the straps was still much too lengthy. My 32 oz water bottle also wasn't able to fit in either side pocket. The color and material feel great, and I appreciate the spaciousness, but the straps are a complete dealbreaker. I was so excited to finally get a Herschel bag, but I don't think I'll be back.
I was given this product as a gift and despite loving the style will have to sell it on. The straps are sewn into the bag meaning I cannot adjust them enough for the bag to be comfortable. I am average height for a woman and although this item is unisex I feel it is aimed at people with above average heigh. As a commuting bag with the potential to carry a large amount of equipment comfort and back support is clearly key.
I bought this backpack to lug around heavy textbooks for school, and I was really disappointed when one of the straps broke near the buckle at the beginning of the semester. While it was great for the two semesters I was able to use it, I was really disappointed that it wasn't a bit more durable. If you have to carry heavy things in your bag, I'd suggest buying a different bag.
I really love this backpack so far. I've been using it for about 2 weeks and I've gotten many compliments already. I find it so functional and easy to wear as someone who is an on-the-go freelancer—from the laptop sleeve to the roomy (not bulky) interior and the two side pockets and front pocket. Also love the color, it's a perfect size, and a bonus that it's water resistant.
My favourite, inside out! I think it's a backpack that stands out with its distinctive style. I love the matte texture: yes, it might get a little sweaty on a hot summer day, but it's perfect in a city where it rains a lot. Optimal in size: has enough space for a laptop as well as other items and looks good on the back of an adult.
Loving this backpack so far! I've had it for about three weeks and walked several blocks in the rain downtown and it kept my electronics safe. I wasn't sure about the orange at first, but got lots of compliments that quickly changed my mind. Roomy - fits both my 15" work laptop, 13" personal, and chargers with room to spare.
I purchased the Herschel survey II backpack in army green to replace a Herschel bag that I’ve owned for many years now, figured I would change up the style and I am super happy I did! Highly recommend this bag for someone that travels a lot and is often outdoors, the fabric is super water/ rain/ snow friendly and durable!
I love the look of this backpack and it's roomier than it seems. It fits my 16" laptop, water bottle, running shoes, and some extra stuff. My only issue is that it doesn't close very securely. There's no zippers or anything for the main compartment and the closures are so loose a big gust of wind was able to open it.
I have used this every day since I got it. Perfect amount of pockets and easy access. I love that is weather resistant as I have worn it walking in the rain a couple times and it kept all my things completely dry. You can't beat Herschel's quality.
