I spent years searching for a backpack like this, and I’ve finally found it. This backpack is perfect for everything—whether you’re heading to the mountains or just using it for your daily life. As a photographer and motorcyclist, it’s incredibly practical. Plus, it works seamlessly with Peak Design’s camera modules. The external compartments are a lifesaver when you need extra storage space on the go. It’s also packed with features that make it even better: it’s super comfortable to wear, with reinforced padding for added support and security, and it’s compatible with waterproof covers to protect your gear in any weather. There’s even a dedicated compartment for your laptop, keeping it safe and easy to access. So, what fits in my 45L backpack? Sony A7 III camera 2 lenses DJI Ronin stabilizer DJI Mini 4 drone DJI Action Camera + accessories Batteries + chargers Macbook PRO Tripod (attached externally) Extra room for a hoodie I can confidently say I’ve found THE PERFECT BACKPACK.
I've had this bag for over 6 months and I love it. I use it in cities and the countryside ! It’s very useful with or without camera cubes ! I have a lot of bags from Peak Design, and I think that the EDC ones are nicer but not as tidy as the ones with camera cubes possibilities. My dream would be a 20 or 25 urban bag with camera cubes ! A sort of mix between this "outdoor" bag and the Everyday ones, with a side access to my gear ! Maybe in a few months ?
I've bought this one in Summer 2025. About half a year since then, I still like the concept and even discover new features & use cases from time to time. The longer I use it, the more I'm getting used to it. Speaking about use: for me, it's my daily all-purpose rucksack as well as my photo stuff carrier (MFT). Grace to the cube concept, re-packing is a breeze. All in all just a typical Peak Design one? Well, the answer is "jain" – the fabulous German word for "yes and no in one". I have to say, I'm disappointed with the quality of the backpack's material. After just a few weeks, whitish spots have appeared on the surface of the cover, looking as if the material has cracked. These spots are visible on the edges, on the surfaces — basically everywhere on the "flap". Keep in mind: I don't drag the backpack around on the ground or squeeze through narrow canyons, so it's not due to misuse. If this were a backpack that had seen a few years and a few hikes, it would be understandable and might even add a certain charm, like an old waxed jacket. But on a backpack that's not even six months old, it unfortunately doesn't look so great. To me, this indicates a quality issue. Of course, I understand that a backpack is primarily a tool and some wear and tear is normal. Nevertheless, I expect a bit better quality from Peak Design, especially considering the price range. I already own several pieces of luggage from Peak Design and have always had very good experiences. This problem is therefore somewhat surprising, and I hope it's an isolated incident. Peak Design, I'm sure you can do better. Maybe I just got a lemon?
This is by far the best camera bag I have ever owned! I used it recently for a 2 weeks travel with my wife and 2 kids. i could bring my 500 f4 ii canon lens, R5, 24-70 2.8, 15-30 2.8, 70-200 2.8, mini 3 drone etc. Along with that, 4 water bottles on the mesh side pockets and front and top were filled with either little food and my coat. On the side I could attach a pocketable peak design tote to bring layers and mittens hat for the kids and wife. It was super comfortable and I am 6 foot 215lbs. The look is awesome and small compared to other brands and stille can bring as much if not more! The only downside is the large insert size. I need it longer so I used the fstop XL insert and I am waiting patienly for a bigger insert :) It it VERY versatile:)
I just received mine about 3 weeks ago. Super happy with the design, build, colour and the quality. I love how it opens both ways and it’s perfect for my camera and lenses! The compartments are really thought through. I can’t wait to take it to more of my outdoor adventures! Thanks Peak Design for this awesome design!
My Outdoor Backpack 25L came just today and everything feels great. The backpack opens easily - like shown in the Kickstarter videos - with just one hand. With the back flap open you can find all your gear and for the first time I wanted to try Peak Designs packing cubes and camera cube. I have to say - I really love it. Everything is in order and can be arranged in super simple steps. Just fix the camera cube to the bottom of your backpack and you can be sure that your gear is save. All the small details make sense when you use them for the first time and you can‘t buy bags without these details. Materials feel high quality as always. I‘m a long time user of the first and second generation Everyday Backpack and the new Outdoor Backpack is a light and durable delight - LOVE IT! Looking forward taking it on a tour!! Gear I tried out with the backpack - Hip Belt, Capture, Packing Cube (ultralight XS & S, ultralight mesh XS), the original Packing Cube (small) & Camera Cube (XS - perfect for my A7s with big lens). Ways you can combine these depends on what you put in the packing cubes ;)
Dude! This is the single best backpack I have ever owned, seen, heard of, touched, whatever. I ordered early on Kickstarter because it looked badass and appeared to be well thought out. This bag is such high quality, so well designed, practical, and looks amazing. I received it last night and immediately knew it was the single best backpack I have ever placed hands on. I used it immediately just so I could make my workmate jealous about receiving it early and show off how awesome it was. I’ve been bragging about it non-stop, giving numerous demos to everyone. I’m an owner of dozens of nice backpacks; I’ve used tactical backpacks, travel backpacks, outdoor/hiking backpacks, commuter backpacks, and all that - this back is immediately the hands-down ultimate. Super solid construction, nice materials, ease and multiple ways to open it, additional bag attachment options, comfortable straps, clip system…all of it. At first, I thought I was just buying an expensive high quality bag, but now I don’t get how the bag is as affordable as it is at this level quality. Just trying to say it’s great, and I hate almost everything.
Say Whiskey! Being my own photographer has its challenges; it means I have to carry my camera gear everywhere, but boy this backpack, the Camera Cue v2 in Smedium, the Travel Tripod, and the Capture v3 Plate sure have made the job much easier. I decided to give Peak Design a try and I'm loving it so far. I can keep everything safe and organized in this Outdoor Backpack (25L). Products are incredibly high quality and the designs are just *cheff's kiss*. I highly recommend it! This will be my go to brand for camera equipment from now on.
I’m just wrapping up a trip in Patagonia and I’m so thankful I bought this bag in the SF store the week before. I’m not a conditioned hiker but somehow I managed 20 miles with 30lbs on my back, including a brutal 1000 elevation gain in the last hour. This pack held me in the right way, balanced the load, and was soft on the contact points. Don’t get me wrong, I hurt, but I probably would not have finished the hike with a lesser bag and holy hell was the destination worth it.
I just LOVE this backpack. At first, I have to say I was a bit skeptical, fearing that it might be over-engineered for my needs. Now I've put some use in it and I'm totally convinced this is the backpack that wins them all. First of all, look and material. It's sturdy but light while holding a certain shape. The comfort is just incredible and it doesn't change if half empty of fully loaded. The external attachment makes it an incredible travel machine (I use the cubes for snacks, jacket, extra pairs of shoes or towels when on the road for more than 2 days). Lastly, the look which makes it perfect for a day in the city but also charging my hometown trails with the bike. Well done PD!
