Almost perfect
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There is a lot I love about these shorts: overall construction, waistband, drawstring, etc. The one minor thing I don’t particularly like about these is how my phone sits when in the stowaway pocket. I have an iPhone 14 Pro, not a huge phone. It fits in the pocket but I do have to really cram it in and the top of the phone then sits right in line with the waistband. So if you are someone who always runs with your phone, you may find yourself carrying your phone in some other way. Does it work? Yes. It’s just not the best setup for me. Honestly, of all the Ten Thousand shorts I have, the 5” Tactical short does the best for phone carrying in the liner thigh pocket.
Nice and light weight but waistband needs improvement
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was looking for some new shorts for ultra distance running. These shorts are nice and light weight but the waistband needs improvement. Pros - super comfy, lightweight and zero chafe in the groin with the liner, which is great. Were the main features I was looking for. Cons - the waistband needs improving. It’s like a patterned mesh that already started to rip after 3 runs near where the waist band ties are. The waffle mesh pattern also chaffed the heck out of my back during longer runs, which is a bit of a deal breaker. As a result these may become more casual wear gym shorts than “performance” running shorts.
The pocket design on the
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The pocket design on the Tactical Short are much superior. Specifically, I don't like exclusively having the zipped pockets. The combination of zipped and open is much better. This morning after my run I stopped into a Traders Joe and placed my Apple Airpods in my pocket like I usually do. When I went to take something else of the zipped pocket the Airpods inadvertently fell out and the customer behind me had to point it out. If I had two separate pockets this would have been adverted. Otherwise the shorts are light and work well during both weight lifting and running. Thank you for taking my comments. Bret Muse
Session Shorts
These shorts are very nice. They are made of a bit thinner material than I expected after starting with the Interval Shorts, but seem to maintain good durability. I like the waist band a lot, it stays in place and doesn't want to roll. These shorts are just right for hiking, cardio, HIIT, light-duty weight training and the average outdoor adventure. They might not be suited to heavy duty weight training or abrasive use like the Interval or Foundation, but they're not really supposed to be. I would recommend the session shorts! Thanks for the good gear tenthousand, I look forward to trying the next piece.
Low quality pockets
In a little over a year, the zipper pocket on my Session shorts developed a hole in the bottom. . . . which allowed my car keyfob to slip out during a trail run. A hole in the "secure" pocket is the last thing I expected from a pair of shorts in this price range. I attempted to fix the hole with a needle and thread, but it turns out the design of the pocket has ZERO stitches. I guess they're using fabric glue to secure our valuables. Lesson learned.
Disappointing
Great shorts. One of the glued pocket seams came apart after less than a month of use. Because I bought mine on a discount they refused to replace/repair them. If they had been factory seconds I would understand not honoring a warranty, but since they don’t stand by their products if they’re on sale I won’t be buying from this brand again.
Poor quality Zipper
Zipper corroded and fell off after a few washes making the pockets unfunctional. Zipper broke off and now leaves a sharp edge
Session Shorts
These are the best shorts I’ve owned. I ran four 100 mile races and trained in them. No chafing!!!
Session Shorts / Liner
In general great shorts…light & stretchy material, true to size, cool. I think your product descriptions regarding shorts should say it has a string to secure the waist. If it's in there, I missed it. Before receiving product I was concerned that just the elastic waist band would quickly wear out so I'm glad it's there. The other concern if that the waist band folds over easily when wearing (No, I don't have a big gut!) and doesn't impress me that it will hold up well with repeated washings and especially putting it the dryer even on low.
Session Short
I could tell these were a very good pair of shorts, however I have a very oddly shaped body and very picky taste when it comes to running shorts, so these just weren't for me. They fit great around the waist and the liner kept things firmly in place, however my quads are just too large for the overall fit and my legs are too long, so these shorts were not a great fit for me. If you offered a split short type pant or maybe even something with a notch at the end of the pant leg to allow for more mobility I would definitely buy that.
