Altra’s unique FootShape™ toe box and zero to low shoes are built to place your foot in a natural position, with a stable and confident foundation to run on. When fitting, be sure to allow a full thumb’s width in front of your toes. If your feet are used to cramped toe boxes, Altra shoes may feel a little big at first. Give your toes some time to get used to the newfound wiggle room.
Altra offers a range of FootShape fits:
Original Fit: The fit that started it all, Original is the roomiest of the 3 options from Altra.
Standard Fit: The most common fit from Altra is right in the middle of Original and Slim.
Slim Fit: The slimmest-fitting Altra option still allows room for your toes to spread out naturally.

I purchased a pair of Altra Paradigms in the middle April of 2023. 4 months later they are already wearing out. The heel cups are disintegrating. Each heel cup now has a hole. In comparison, I have had Keen trail shoes that lasted 3 years before they even started to wear out. These Altra shoes are supposed to be designed for Ultra marathons. Good luck with that. At 50 miles you may have holes in your heel cups. At $170.00 a pair and $85.00 per shoe, one would expect quality materials that last. There is no excuse for using poor quality construction in a shoe that boasts about being innovative and used for long hard races. It just shows you that a company can spend lots of money on slick videos that show down to earth dudes talking with pride about the groundbreaking designs and features of their shoes, and then the same dudes make the shoes fast and cheap and sell them to saps enamored by their bunkum. Hey if you want to spend $170.00 on disposable shoes that only last a few months, then go for it. Oh, and the tongues of the shoes constantly slide to the side. Maybe the hip dudes at Altra can find an innovation to stop that. (Hint: Look at every other running shoe in the market.) They call their designs “groundbreaking,” that’s because when you use them on the ground… they break.
This review only covers the fit of the shoe. I wear a 10.5 and own the Torin 7 wide. They are a perfect fit for my foot width. These are 10.5 wide for the Paradigm and they are too narrow for my feet. There is plenty of toe room, but immediately after the toe cup the material digs into the sides. In addition my foot doesn't quite fit the shape of the insoles and given the amount of toe space I am hesitant to size up to an 11 or 11.5. Given the Torin 7 success I had hope for another Altra "wide" model. I wish we had more original foot shaped or wide options for road running shoes.
This shoe is comfortable and I liked the wide version, but they started falling apart after just 4 months of use. I shouldn't have to take a $169 pair of shoes to get repaired after 4 months of use! The eyelets are coming apart and the material on the inside of the heels is wearing down and uncomfortable against the back of my foot. I can't justify spending this much money for a pair of shoes that wears down so quickly. Comfortable and stylish, but low quality materials. Not worth the money!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Such of amazing shoes. Feels great when you walk on them. I compared them to running shoes from under armour and is so different. The feeling is great when you walk on them. I highly recommend this shoes.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shoes were great when I went to the gym and used the treadmill as well as on the road. They are cushioned and fit great without much heel slippage. The one thing I was worried about when I first got them was the toe box being much larger than shoes I have worn in the past. However, after wearing them, I have been pleasantly surprised by how much I like that feature for these shoes. Overall, this is a great shoe and I highly recommend them.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are a super comfortable running shoe, whether you're running on the treadmill or outside. The upper toe area is such an unique design that helps keep your toes comfortable throughout your entire run. My feet did not experience any fatigue at the end of my run. I highly recommend these shoes.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received these shoes last week. They are comparable to brooks running shoes. I would say they are more comfortable than brooks though. They have a unique design in the insole that forced me to walk with better posture. I like that a lot. It relies a lot of unneeded pressure from my legs. I just had knee and ankle surgery 6 months ago from a motorcycle wreck and these shoes help a lot. As for style, I'm not a huge fan of the shape/ look of the shoes but I can over look that for the upgrade in comfort. As for price, they are pricey. I would like to see them a little lower in the same range as brooks.
I left a bad review for the Outroad model because of the sizing issue & having to return them, etc....wish I could update. If you buy those go 1/2 size up. But the Paradigm 7's are perfect. Sizing is true and similar to the Timp 4's with a little more room all around. I will buy a 2nd pair of these. Highly recommend!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shoes feel great and sturdy. I like the little bit of heigh they give and you can really feel the max support just walking around in them. They fit comfortable and aren't too soft but not too firm either. They are a great balance. They run true to size and width as well as true to color described. They grey/lime green is very nice with the subtle hint of color that elevates it for me versus just grey or white pair of shoes. I really enjoy running in these shoes and inner on getting another pair. I'm interested to see how long this pair will last. I would recommend this shoe.
My pinky toe feels a little too tight. Do these things break a bit? There's a slight buldge on both outer sides where my pinky toes are. I want to like them but not at the cost of blisters from thwm.being too narrow. I don't have a wide foot either.
