Two steps forward in nutrition; A step backward in taste

I applaud the nutritional changes in the reformulation. Unfortunately, the taste, at least of the salted caramel version, took a step back. Before, it had a distinct salted caramel flavor without being overly sweet. Now it has a sweeter, vaguely caramel flavor. I don't really mind the change in mouthfeel from the new frothiness, but it does make it less convenient if you're shaking in one container and transferring it to another: there's a _lot_ of foam. Overall, I still think it's a top notch recovery product. I just hope that the taste can be tweaked with time to be more like the old recipe.

Disappointed

I am huge Tailwind fan, but this one really missed the mark. I should have listened to the bad reviews, but decided to give it a try. The Strawberry Recovery mix tasted nothing like strawberry. It has a very powdery protein taste. If you are looking for a strong strawberry flavor or something that tastes like a treat, this isn’t it. I will be sticking to the Vanilla, Chocolate and Salted Caramel. Oh well, had to give it a try. Would be great if Tailwind gave a sample of the new flavors in the orders so not to waste money on ordering a few to make the cost of shipping balance out.

I swear by this stuff!

Tailwind recovery mix is the best tasting and most refreshing recovery drink among the many I've tried. I typically take 2 servings after a 2+ hour long run, and I am much more functional for the rest of the day than if I don't. I love the attention to natural ingredients and the new larger bag so I don't have to reorder as often!

New Formulation

I had tried the sample pack about a month ago and loved the salted caramel flavor, so when I reordered my electrolytes I also got a pack of salted caramel recovery sticks. I didn't know until I received my order that the recipe had changed to increase protein content, specifically by adding fava bean protein isolate (and removing the coconut milk powder). Unfortunately, this gave the mixed recovery drink a terrible bean-y aftertaste. I wish I had known it was a different mix before I ordered a whole pack, because it's not very pleasant anymore :/

Delicious and it WORKS

I have to disagree with other reviewers who say the new version doesn’t taste as good as the old. The old version was fine. But the new version is so delicious I look forward to it and am sad once it’s finished 😂. It’s somehow creamy yet light at the same time, has a good mouth feel (not chalky or strange) and doesn’t have a weird after taste. In the old version I could taste a distinct salty element and in the new I don’t get that at all. It tastes like a dessert. Big fan of the vanilla and the new strawberry. Taste aside, this stuff is a game changer for my post long or hard effort recovery. Especially now that I’m a bit older and I don’t feel like I can recover as quickly as I used to… this stuff makes a huge difference for me. In the way I feel hours after, and especially next day (I don’t feel the soreness or depletion, I don’t feel run down). Highly recommend!

Just as good

I’ve read the reviews stating the old formula was better, so I was hesitant to buy the new recovery formula. It still tastes great. Not sure what the complaints are about. I usually mix with almond milk for a creamier taste.

New formula misses the mark

The old recovery mix was great. The new one is terrible. The chocolate flavor does not taste good. The mix is foamy. More importantly, it seems like the switch to more protein less carb is driven by a craze for protein. I’m not a scientist or nutritionist, but I worry that the sudden switch is less driven by science, than by fad. Also, the bean protein it’s very gassy.

Gives Energy Right Back!

I usually think protein/recovery mixes have weird tastes that go along with them, but that isn't the case. I also decided to veer from the favored chocolate and vanilla, and try the strawberry. Fantastic! I love it! It puts energy back into my body, and sits really well in my stomach after a hard workout where my stomach my not be feeling the best.

I freeze a water bottle

I freeze a water bottle the night before and put it in a cooler. Immediately after my workout, usually 3+ hours, I mix to scoops with my now very cold water, shake it well and drink in small sips over 10 minutes or so. It hits the spot in terms of thirst and I don't feel beat up after a long hike or bike ride. Very easy to use and it tastes great!

Combo recovery mix flavors!

I've been using Tailwind products (endurance fuel, recovery mix & rapid hydration) for about 1. 5 years & love them! Not wild about the strawberry on its own, but my new fave is a strawberry & vanilla combo. I'm sure I'm not the first person to try this! PS Please bring back birthday cake - it's the best, by far!!
