Great Dive computer!

I git the Garmin X50I from a friend who who also has the MK3I watch computer. After looking at both, i noticed that the X50I was easier to read and use. I just got my open water certification and was looking for a reliable and useable comouter and this seemed to fit the bill. My friend ended up selling me the X50I as he wes not going to need it as he was not going to dive for a while due to work. I could not be happier with the unit. Not only does it have features that I use now as an oen water dive, but as i pick up other skills and advance in certifications I know that I will not need to change computers as this will handle anything that i wish to pursue in the future. Garmin, keep up the great work you are doing.

Still a few bugs

I had to return the first unit before the first dive. Unit would not power on. I only have a handful of dives, but the last dive the ending air pressure was recorded as 6,552! I understand ZERO if I turn the air off before the dive ends But where does 6,552 come from? Starting PSI was 3,274. ( High Pressure Steel 100 ) My first dive I dove with both my MK3i and my x50i. My tank pressure displayed on both units.... But was not saved in the dive log of the x50i, I think there are still several bugs to be worked out.

Great Dive Computer

I bought this Garmin Computer after already having the MK2i. My friend at my local dive shop raves about the x50i and I have to admit that it lives up to the hype at least for me. I am somewhat of a new gadget/tec guy. This dive computer provides you with a lot of information. With the added GPS capabilities that is unmatched. The only downside is the battery life. I recently went to Bonaire where diving all day is a thing. After a couple of dives (2) that were an hour long each I noticed my battery was really low and had to go back and recharge it. Now there are a couple of things that I will have to try based on some suggestions I found on some websites (put in battery save mode, reduce the backlight and a couple of other things). Over all love the Garmin x50i.

An absolutely delightful computer.. Amazing..

As an instructor I have had many computers in the past and currently have 3 different computers, which now am using as backup. This computer by Garmin is truly amazing.. & the software is second to none. I am amazed that the industry has been so stagnant up till now.. hopefully Garmin's new computer will wake them up. The screen, the information you need during the dive, and the brightness and clarity is truly amazing. If you wish to buy a computer.. for now, at least, look no further.

First Dive was great

I took the Descent X50i out for the first dive to compare it to my other computers. I strapped 3 computers to me and compared them side by side. The display was amazing; brighter and easier to read than anything else I have. Since I am getting older, I sometimes have difficulty reading the displays but not with this. Took it into deco and was perfectly satisfied with how it operated without making any changes to the layout. Very glad I purchased this!

Very User Friendly

I received the Descent X50i for Christmas. I went to Cozumel for a week of diving over the New Year Celebration. All I can say is WOW! I have been diving the Descent MK2i (and still love it) but the X50i screen is amazing. The screen is very bright, the multi screen tap feature makes navigating from section to section a breeze. Of course having the connect and Garmin Dive app on the phone helps with initial setup.

Love it, but....

I use quite a few Garmin products, including the Descent Mk2i. With the purchase of the Descent X50i, I want to use my Mk2i as a backup, but they both update on Garmin connect. I have quite a few dives logged and would like the X50i to pick up the dive count from Mk2i, but do not see that option. Would love to see a software update to allow this.

Nearly Perfect, Battery Life is Disappointing

I have been using the Descent Mk3i for Technical Diving for nearly 2 years, and the only issue I had with it was the small size. I was very excited when I heard about the X50i, and have been using it for about a month. So far, it has been addressing all of the issues that I have had with the Mk3i and more, and I love that Garmin is getting deeper into the diving game. The main issue that I have with the X50i is the relatively disappointing Battery Life. While the Mk3i can easily last me 2 weeks of diving without of charge (while being used as a smart watch on shore), the X50i struggles to last 2 days of diving. Unfortunately, this makes it difficult to trust this device as a primary computer...however, it has made a fantastic backup to my Mk3i. I very much hope that Garmin make significant improvements to the battery life in future iterations (or future updates). Other than this point though, the X50i is a fantastic technical diving computer.

Great Technical Dive Computer - Somewhat disappointing Battery Life

I am a Technical, CCR, and Full Cave Diver and have been using a Garmin Dive computer for the past 2 years (Descent Mk3i). The X50i was a breath of fresh airs as the main issue I had with the Mk3 was to small size and lack difficulty seeing all the information I wanted. I have been using the X50i for about a week now, and as a larger version of the Mk3, it is exactly what I wanted. However, the larger size and gorgeous screen also seems to come with a major drawback, which is the relatively short battery life. While the Mk3 will last me nearly two weeks of regular diving without needing a charge, the X50i struggles to last two days. In normal circumstances, this is not a bit deal. However, when diving in relatively remote locations or doing long CCR dives, its hard to rely on this computer as a primary unless you are really keeping on top of the charging. Its not necessarily a dealbreaker, but it is a major stain on an otherwise fantastic product, and an issue that I really hope that they address in future versions

Best screen layout of any computer so far

I have used almost every computer on the market at this point. This one has some flaws of course but overall, it’s great. The screen layout, the brightness, and responsiveness of the unit all make up for its subpar battery life.
