Great lightweight hiking pant
Great stretch and comfort for a hiking pant. This is fantastic during the warm months as the material isn't thick. Fits true to size. This is a skinny version so it fits against your legs. The 5th pocket has an internal loop for keys and also a zip pocket. Pockets are mesh like material to keep up with the breathable material.
Durable, Breathable, Comfortable
These pants are surprisingly lightweight, making them a perfect choice for warmer fall or summer days, as well as those cool autumn evenings. The fabric has a high-quality look and feel, with just the right balance of comfort and durability. They’re versatile enough to dress up for a night out or dress down for casual wear, making them a solid addition to any wardrobe. Aside from a few loose threads, I have no complaints. In fact, I’ve found myself reaching for them more often than expected, which is always the sign of a great purchase. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, stylish pair of pants.
NOT the original Stretch Zion material. Recycled and different from Stretch Zion Straights.
Compare the fabric details from this product to the Stretch Zion Straight Pants (made from the original Stretch Zion material; not recycled). This product lists "95% Recycled Nylon, 5% Elastane," which seems more like the ReZion fabric prAna used in their discontinued ReZion line nobody liked—shinier, hotter, far less durable. Customers tore them apart in reviews, then ratings were temporarily disabled on their site, then ReZion disappeared. I've bought prAna products for decades, but their quality, innovation, and trustworthiness spiraled since they were acquired by Columbia. For me, it's time to find another brand.
The New & Improved Brion!
I’ve loved the Prana Brion pants for years (still have a few pairs from nearly ten years ago), but always disliked the boot cut. These are the perfect counter to that. Same 5-pocket style, but with an updated fit that I can pair with sneakers or even a casual loafer. I split time between working in an industrial environment and an office, so these do well to transition from crawling around on ladders to office meetings to after-work adventures. The “sandbar” color is an excellent khaki, but the “thyme” appears much more blue-green in person. Looks fine with neutrals, but I was hoping for a truer gray.
Great Pants
The fabric on these pants as opposed to the old ones is great! Still super stretchy and it looks like they're attempting to address the problems with the old Zion pants (tearing, pilling, etc). Time will tell, but from my first impression they seem to be a substantial upgrade from before. As with the other prAna pants, the slim size is for someone with no thighs. They were super tight on me and I don't know how they would fit anyone. Probably steer away from the slim fit. Overall, they are super great pants, the tight fit is not my style so they will be hiking pants instead of daily wear/fashion pants.
My go-to everyday pants
I own a few pairs of other varieties of Stretch Zion pants that I use for hiking and climbing. I've always loved the fit and feel of these and they are my #1 go-to pants for any outdoor activities. However they look a bit too casual for many places. I've been able to wear this version which looks a little less "outdoorsy" not only out for a hike but also to a business event as well as a few dates - talk about versatile! I prefer the slim fit vs the regular because that cut works well for me and I don't usually like loose pant legs. I've still found that I could pull the cuffs over my Nepal GTX mountaineering boots - although I'll be mostly wearing these around town as I like the zippered pockets of the regular version for hiking activities. The slim fit on the waist also allows me to wear shirts untucked without having it feel loose around my waist. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.
Do it all pant
I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. I’ve worn the prAna Stretch Zion 5 Pocket Slim Pants for hiking in the Wasatch, traveling, and casual wear, and they’ve quickly become a go-to. The fabric is durable yet flexible, holding up well against rock scrapes while still offering enough stretch for scrambling or biking. They breathe surprisingly well in hot conditions, and the slim fit looks modern without feeling restrictive—true to size in my case (32x32). The five-pocket design is versatile, though I do wish one had a bigger zippered pocket for extra security when traveling. I also appreciate prAna’s commitment to sustainability, and the build quality feels like it will last for years. Overall, these pants hit the rare balance between technical performance and everyday style, and I’d recommend them to outdoor enthusiasts, travelers, or anyone looking for one pair of pants that can do it all.
Great fabric but tight waist
I purchased these after seeing the Brion slims were no longer available. I wanted to like these but as others have said, the waist in the first pair (31 waist) was unusually tight. I returned the first pair due to sizing issues and the next size (32 waist) is just too big to be called a slim pant in my opinion. I will sadly rerun the second pair. I agree this fabric seems improved to the Brion slims, but the sizing didn’t work for me as the legs were too baggy and the waist was off. I’ve been wearing waist 31 in prana for 8+ years. Would love to see the Brion slim sizing in this fabric.
Perfect Pant. Stylish, Comfortable, and Versatile
This may be a perfect pant. The pants are incredibly comfortable and look amazing while being the most versatile pants I have ever known. These pants function just as well in office environment as a construction site. I no longer have to worry about ruining a pair of khakis by spilling something on them at lunch or when I have to run to a jobsite. They also make an excellent travel pant do to the comfort, style, and stain resistance. The zippered front pocket is perfect for a slim wallet and puts my mind at ease while traveling. These are my new go to pants regardless of the situation.
Well Made, Fit Nicely
These pants are well made with secure stitching. Slimmer fits usually don't suit me well. Any bending of the knees beyond a casual walk is typically uncomfortable, but not with the stretchy fabric these have. They wash easily as well. It's hard for me to imagine that they won't be durable. I do find the front pockets odd in that they load and empty vertically rather than at an angle, but those pockets are a bit more on the front than on the hips. That makes them different. I kind of likee them that way.
