I walk for exercise and also play golf. I have been looking for waterproof running shoes for that purpose. These work really well for both trail walking and for golfing. Most running shoes are not waterproof. The sales people and manufacturers expect quick drying shoes are lighter and therefore better. I play golf early in the morning and on most occasions, there is a heavy dew on the ground. If I play with shoes that aren't waterproof, my feet are soaked after the first few holes. Not so with these Hokas! They keep my feet dry yet they breathe well enough to help manage moisture from perspiration. They have the right amount of cushioning and after 18 holes, I don't have foot fatigue. I hope they wear well and I should know more about that in six months or so. They also pair well with the thicker balega no show socks to create comfort with having the problem most no show socks have of cutting off the circulation from the ankle down. These balegas don't do that. They are comfortable.
Overall good mellow trail show. Nice roomy toe box that allows the toes to spread nicely. Good grip on all but the muddiest trails. Very cushioning a bit too much for me but stable overall for a neutral shoe. Personally I would like it a little firmer but a solid upgrade from the 7.
Super comfortable and breathable (for GoreTex) I bought them before a 10d trip to Japan in the spring. walking 15-20k steps daily, moderate to heavy rain, sunny/cool days. They hamdled eberything well, super comfy, great support and cushioning.
As I’ve grown accustomed to the overall comfort of Hoka shoes, this was no disappointment. I just hope it lasts longer than the last pair I had.
