The Bag Comes up Short
While quality from Patagonia is unequaled, this bag falls short from a simple design short coming. It has no pocket on the back of the bag. The perfect place for a phone, passport, airline ticket or any other like item. A simple design addition really limits the functionality of the bag.
Great for carrying essentials under a jacket
This was the bag I didn't realize I was looking for. It's about 2 and half times larger than a passport pouch and flatter than a cross body bag. It fits comfortably under a light jacket, loose fitting shirt, or windbreaker. It's big enough for two extras I always carry; a small battery pack to recharge my phone while out and a coin wallet. It's a great alternative to the smallish backpack I used to carry and is more discreet and less bulky.
Small but mighty!
Loving this little pouch! It's simple, and some of the negative reviews did make me laugh (Five Star pencil pouch--I see you), but this is really a great every day bag. I normally carry a vintage Coach bag, and I wanted to give my shoulder a break and lighten my load. This does the job! Comfortable and small, but fits more than you'd expect. I bought it on sale--I wouldn't pay full price for this one.
Get a three ring binder pouch instead !
Saw this “cross body bag” in the store . It’s a shame that companies can make a binder pouch, attach a string to it and call it a cross body bag. ( the pencil pouch middle schooler would use which attaches to binder / folder) Nothing against Patagonia . They make wonderful products but this one is a stretch. The string makes it easy for pickpocketers to cut it off too. Save your money on this one.
Found my new go-to purse for travel and trails!!!
Bought this item the day before leaving for a walking trip in England - it was on sale, color was acceptible, and I thought I'd check it out for trail walking. I ended up LOVING it and deciding it would be my new go-go travel purse! There's plenty of room in its inner pocket for passport and a couple of other important essentials such as credit & debit cards, and cash. Plenty of room in larger main compartment for other walking esssentials (for me) such as hearing aids, small notebook & pen, basic toiletries, and other odds and ends. The outer two pockets provided easy access to a small bottle of water, and my phone - simple and PERFECT! Why I LOVED it - unlike my equally lightweight travel purse (which I NEVER took off except in the hotel room and used for over a decade), this Patagonia bag lies flat against me (thus allowing me to zip my rain jacket when necessary), and doesn't bang against my leg while I walk.. The one major downside is that the strap - just strings with slip knots - is very easy to cut. Thus on our walking trip (late May/early June), I switched back to my travel purse when in larger towns/cities where theft was a potential problem. However, upon returning home I devised a satisfactory way to unobtrusively clip the Patagonia bag to a belt loop in hot weather, for extra security. In cold weather, because the bag is so compact and flat, it should easily fit under a sweater or jacket, and thus be quite secure in urban areas. In fact, immediately upon returning, I did a quick search, found this Patagonia bag was still on sale at REI, and promptly ordered 2 more!
