evolv  Kronos Climbing Shoes - Men's

My first new shoe since the Trantulace, amazingly pleased with the fit out of the box. Wore them last night, feels like they need no break-in time (my feet are great today). Very very pleased, I rarely write reviews. A good intermediate shoe, and intro into shoes with camber (i.e. not too aggressive). My feet run slightly wide, means that the velcro has less to grip, but I didn't have any issues. This shoe deserved at least one review!

Very good shoe, not comfortable for wearing while not climbing. Can be rough on the heels when new, but it gets better. The toe box will not stretch. As the rubber goes all the way around it. Make sure it fits good at the store. I had to go a half size up.

A good step up from a less aggressive, or beginner, shoe. Solid, sharp edges. A great heel cup. The adjustable straps make customizing easy. I have a wider foot and these take the form very well as opposed to other "constricting" shoes. The sizing is 1 size smaller for me, likely due to the synthetic construction. I started on the Tarantulace and was about 2 sizes down, likely due to the leather construction. The Kronos is tight on the toe but easy on the arch (I have mid-high arches) and heel once the shoe has relaxed a bit. I do not expect much more relaxation though. Also worth noting, the rubber takes several hours of climbing for the tackiness to come out and with it will be the steep profile of the edge...but the edge will remain in tact, the "sharp" profile is misleading and caused me to slip several times in the first several hours of climbing. Overall, a good intermediate shoe. Only used in a gym, not outdoors...yet. 4/5 because the shoe is not perfect. Don't let that deter you, shoes are hard to get absolutely perfect.

I bought these because another pair of Evolve climbing shoes of mine had worn out, and I loved the previous pair I owned. Overall, I really like these shoes as they are aggressive while still being comfortable. The only negative for me is that the sizing seems to be off a bit. I have somewhat wide feet, and I normally wear a 9.5 in almost any street show. However, I had to buy these in a size 11 as they run quite small and narrow

Okay I've read the other reviews and I find some fault with them that might be important to some people. First these shoes for most climbers will warrant buy +/- 1 half size of street shoe. Mine are 9 1/2 which is the same size I ware in street shoes but I was told that many people go down one or up one. This is going to have a lot to do with if your feet are the same size or how different they are. Some people who like a shoes to to require the big toe to be very bent while wearing might go a full size down but I doubt most people will be in this camp as most of those folks will be in more aggressive shoes. The Kronos have a long break in time for maximum traction as well as to find the final fit although they don't stretch much they do stretch a little and will take several hours over several sessions to get good smearing out of them. Note of cation even though I really like wearing these for comfort while gym climbing something about the material makes them smell worse then any other climb shoe I have I owned. I have owned 3 different La Sportivas and a pair of Mad Rocks and none of them exhibited the odor these due.

I had a great experience with this shoe and am currently considering buying it again. I boulder almost exclusively, currently V3-V5 range, and it meets all of my needs as a beginner/intermediate. My only not is for people like me with slightly narrow feet. The velcro straps can hang off the sides of the shoes when you pull them tight, sometimes getting in the way. I wear a 12 in sneakers and a 13 fit perfectly for this model

I had these shoes for about three months when I noticed a small hole forming in the toe and that the stitching was beginning to rip. I hadn't been climbing very much in them either. I was not impressed at all.

Runs small. I wear 8 in street shoes. Purchased 8.5 and was exhausted after getting them on my feet, not to mention physical pain. With the right size, I'm sure they are great to climb in.
