Gendered bags?

Well there was no indication this was a "woman's" item, and frankly the distinction is silly. It's a sling bag. It's great for hiking. I love it, and I'm a guy. Please stop giving genders to objects that don't require one. This isn't a baby-doll t-shirt, it's a backpack.

Wrong shoulder, poor material, better pockets

I really really wanted to love this bag. I bought this for an upcoming European trip where I needed to carry tourist guides, stuff for the kids, snacks and daily medication for one person in our party. I’ll start with the pros. It’s affordable. It’s cute. It has a decent amount of space and can fit an 8x11 folder. And the strap is sturdy. (I bought the one with the owl pattern). Now with the cons (and there are a few, but I really think that with improvements, this could be a great bag). This bag is worn on the right should only, which is not very ergonomic for a right handed person. When you put the bag on your shoulder, the motion is counterintuitive for a right handed person, and restricts your right should. Your could wear it on your other should but the bag would not fall flat on your bag. This is a huge con for me, as I started to get serious shoulder and rib pain one week into our trip and had to stop wearing it altogether. While the pattern is cute and the material is of reasonable quality, it is not ideal for this type of bag. This should be made of a more durable material, such as laminated canvas. It is not protected when it rains, and it gets stained easily as soon as it touches the floor (my bad was constantly sandy from the crushed stone in French parks). Lastly, I find the pockets just ok. The middle pocket with a velcro is not big enough for a cell phone (and nor would I put a phone in there- it would be prime for stealing). It does fit well in the zipped up one though. The two side pockets are of decent sizes, but not very deep and I wish they had other compartments inside, especially to put keys and wallet. I created my own wallet holder with a hiking clip. All in all, I might still use the bag every once in a while for very specific occasions where I need to have my hands free, but I suspect those uses will be few and far between.

Absolutely LOVE

Picked this up on a trip when my Mountain Smith fanny pack got a rip in it that I couldn't repair until I got back. This pack outdid my expectations! I was able to put: my 3L hydration pack and thread the mouth piece through the chord strap, an additional 48 Oz Nalgene, face and body sunscreen, money, taser, lighter, bug repellant, and multiple trail snacks. I also strapped an additional water to the strap. This bag took me through the Bright Angel Trail GCNP, a day in YNP, and the Badlands Loop DVNP. Only complaint would be with all the water weight I hiked with the strap did dig into/ make my shoulder sore after using it multiple days in a row.

Fantastic every day bag

I purchased my first Kavu sling bag last fall. I liked it so much that I bought another one in a different print. I just ordered 3 more. The small, upper pouch is a great place to keep my keys handy. The lower pouch is perfect for my phone and work badges. I use one pouch for my medical supplies and the other for personal items. The interior pouch is a good place for small things that I don't want to loose. I was also very pleased with how well the bag worked out on shore excursions for our cruise. I could keep the bag on my back in areas were I felt safe and rotate it to the front when I wanted to keep an eye on it. Having my hands free was also a huge plus.

More space than I expected

I love the rope along bag, especially the camping pattern I ordered (the background color is more cream than white). It has 3 zippered pockets and one Velcro pocket which perfectly fits my small digital camera. The small pocket on the front would hold a large phone and still have space (in thickness). The one side pocket overlaps the largest compartment. The largest space has a small zipper space inside and is bigger than I expected it to be. I was very pleased. The rope strap could be a little uncomfortable on your shoulder if you put a lot in the bag (too heavy) or if it's directly in contact with your skin. Otherwise I love it!

Nicer than pictured

I bought this bag in the "Fable" print, and the have to say the online picture just does not do it justice. The colors are so much deeper. The material feels sturdy. It's a great size for every day carry. I'm very happy with this purchase, and imagine the other colors and patterns are equally as nice!

Love this bag!!!

I recently bought this bag with the charcoal fable design! I saw someone wearing it at Peet’s coffee and had to know where she bought it. I have been looking for a comfortable and functional yet cute bag for so long. I use it for work and home. It even fits my iPad Pro that I use for a lot of my patients. The larger pocket and smaller pocket are great for keeping things organized. And it is great for walking through parks in Santa Cruz, Big Sur, etc. It is very well distributed...so much so that I don’t even feel it on my back when I’m wearing it. I highly recommend it!!!

I cant say enough good things about this bag

I bought this bag almost 4 years ago. Durable. Great size. I took this bag with me on deployment and it held up in the Middle East, in Asia and closer to home where I take it everywhere. This is my daily bag and its great if you want to take a few things to the gym and it's the perfect size for day hikes. I also ride a motorcycle and this bag fits closely enough to me when I ride that I dont have to worry about it falling off or flapping around. It can also surprisingly fit a lot in it. The large pocket fits multiple books or a tablet (sorry not big enough for a laptop), sweatshirts, chargers even bottles of wine or a six pack of beer (not all at the same time of course). the small front pockets are great for items without it smashing anything in the bigger pockets. I usually keep my phone and wallet in there when I hike. I cant say enough good things about this bag. One of the best bags I've ever owned.

Great bag

I use this bag for work. I work 12 hours shift. It has lots of pockets and actually holds quite a bit. I've had it hold an outfit, bathroom bag, kindle, keys, wallet, and other small miscellaneous items. The only thing I wish it had, was a hook to hold onto your keys. I have to dig into the pocket to get the keys which manage to bury themselves down toward the bottom.

Good Bag - Room for Improvement

I bought this bag for around town and shorter walks/hikes, being able to carry my stuff and stuff for a toddler. Size is good, the smaller zip exterior pocket is large enough for 1 water bottle or sippy cup. The 2 smallest exterior pockets aren't really good for a phone (as phones have gotten larger lately). I really wish there was a second pocket on the exterior to hold another water bottle that had access without a zipper, and that there was a pocket on the front rope that would hold my phone so I could have quick easy access to it. The large main pocket is good size, just note it's really one big pocket so nothing will really stay organized within it. Overall the size is pretty spot on - but just wish it had those couple extra features to really make it great.

Fun, functional, and almost perfect

The Kavu Rope Sling bag was exactly what I expected. After just a few weeks i have completely fallen in love with it and replacing it as my go to bag for everyday use (aka my purse). The various pockets and sections allow for organization the way I like it. Plus I find myself easily pulling the bag around to my front to access pockets instead of taking it completely off. The only issue I have with it is that my phone in a case doesn't really fit in it but I am sure over time I will find a good use for it. Still trying to sort out where I want stuff in it. I love my wave pattern on it and if ever a similar pattern but with trees come about I know I would get a second one. I am now hooked thanks!
