Super Simple

I live in a 600 square foot apartment so storage space is a premium and I am 5'5 so to raise bikes up to wall mounts high enough to be out of the way just isn't feasible. Purchased 2 of the bike pulleys, and they are now suspended from my ceiling. I researched multiple options and REI has the most competitive prices. To lower the bikes it's similar to when you lower your blinds - it's just a simple pull of the string at an angle and it will start to lower them. They are designed for your garage but I don't have one of those! :) I'm trying to figure out if I buy a third if I could suspend my golf clubs up in the same manner....Definitely could be used for a paddle board or kayak too. There is ample amount of string, I have 20 foot ceilings and there's a ton of rope left. I should note, I did not personally install these, I am handy but because drilling into the ceiling/roof and my ceilings are at an angle I hired a guy to help me out with this. Absolutely an awesome purchase!

Simple Design with critical flaws

While it was easy to install, the design is basic and raising/lowering your gear needs a lot of manual intervention. Your gear will go up on on one end due to the design, so you need to adjust by hand or put extra stress on the straps. The critical flaw is that the straps use plastic buckles. I was storing a roof box hanging in the garage for a year. When lowering, and one end was lower than the other, the stress on the buckle became too much and it broke, dropping the roof box from 6 feet on its corner. The box cracked. And after multiple back and forth with their support via email, no replacement of their broken part nor discussion on damage to my gear. I wouldn’t recommend this product.

Great way to store the bikes in the garage.

I will be buying 2 more of these for my other bike and the Thule roof box. This was easy to install. I had the bike hanging in 45 minutes. I chose to install the pulley system on a piece of strapping and then screw the strapping to the studs. The instructions were easy to understand. The bike hangs with only little effort. The lock on the front pulley works well. The tie down is a good additional safety to insure the bike stays in place. I did not realize it came with straps to hold a kayak or roof box. That was a bonus. This pulley system will save a lot of room in the garage. I am thrilled with this purchase.

Wise Choice

No garage, ocean air, doesn’t lend to keeping a bike in good condition outside. Purchasing two was the simple solution to creating floor space and room for family & guests. Relatively easy to install and pull up and down. I’m happy with the purchase and outcome.

Cheap and flawed.

Simple design, cheap, but flawed. Given the double pulley/single rope system, there’s no mechanism that ensures that each pulley moves in sync- which means that when you pull/release the rope, there’s a very good chance only the first pulley is going to move. The first time I used it, only the first pulley got raised, until it was at the ceiling (this was with a load on it; I manually rebalanced it so it didn’t just fall out of the straps). When the first pulley reached the ceiling pulley pair, it finally started lifting the other pulley- but the tension wedged the first pulley in between the two ceiling pulleys. I’m going to have to get a ladder out to free it when I’m finally ready to get the paddle board back down. I’m going to keep it, but I’m going to rework it with some eye bolts and cutting the rope to run a separate rope to each pulley setup.

Good but could be improved

The hooks can be difficult to use. One set of hooks will fall off when you try to attach the second set of hooks. It is a delicate balancing act trying to attach your bike. A better method would be to use straps with clips. One strap would go around the seat post and clip and the other strap would go around the bars and clip. Once clipped there would be no way for the strap to fall off when attaching the other one.

A Great Way To Store My Bicycles

I really like having my bike up and out of the way. My shop has a ten foot ceiling so I no longer bump my head as previously when I hung the bike vertically from a hook which was screwed onto the rafter. I needed the bike a little higher so as not to bump my head on the tires so I rigged up a mount above the rafters which still allowed the rope to clear the top of the rafters, and the system works great. If the bike doesn't go up evenly, I push up on the lowest tire which keeps everything balanced. Once in place, the rope is secure and I like this storage system aa lot. It gives me a lot more room to get around my Bowflex compared to when I had my three bikes hanging from hooks. I would recommend this to a friend.

El Greco Ceiling Bike Hoist

I don't normally do online reviews but this product impressed me mightily. We bought two and they are very well designed, manufactured and packed. Instructions are perfectly adequate and everything you need is there. They fit right onto the lower member off my garage roof trusses and are certainly up to their rated 50 pounds with no issues. Helps to have high ceilings. Easy to use and a great product.

Easy Out of The Way Bicycle Storage

This is a decent product at an excellent price. I had purchased a similar product at another store, but the rope was really cheap and weak. This one has a much stronger rope that seems durable. It operates flawlessly and allows us to store a bike 12 feet off the garage floor.
