Does the Trick
Only bought because the REI in Tucson had a rather abysmal selection of dynex slings available, and I needed a new one for a climb I was doing that day. Ultimately, it works fine. It's your standard sling... but it is a bit bulkier and harder to manipulate that Black Diamond's version of the same thing. (I went in to REI looking for the Black Diamond version.) It does the trick, but when I retire this one, I'll definitely be going back to Black Diamond's dynex sling just for easy of use and storage on the rack while climbing.
great sling
I use these for trad and alpine climbing. 4/5 because the bar tack isn't as clean as the mammut contact/crocodile slings. However, these are light and very functional.
Great Sling
The sling works as you'd expect a sling to. I used mine as a short extension for an anchor over a ledge. One thing to note, the name says Nylon sling, but it is apparently a Dyneema/Nylon blend, somewhere between 36/64 and 40/60.
Good for slinging horns, not for alpine draws
Feels sturdier than the super thin dyneema slings. I prefer this for slinging horns and boulders on alpine stuff which is what I use my 120cm slings for mostly, would also be happy with it for anchor building. Wouldn’t really use them for normal alpine draws though, the material’s noticeably thicker and heavier than dyneema slings for being the same price or more expensive
Light weight
Perfect for hammock strap to tree strap assembly. Combine with a climbing d-ring and tree strap. Wa-la!
Great Alpine sling/runner!
Great Alpine sling/runner! It's a double shoulder length runner that works well in the alpine or trad climbing setting.
Good for anchors
It’s a sling and I like mine because it’s green. It’s good for sport anchors, extending rappels, extending trad placement, strapping gear to the outside of your pack because your pack was too small for planned activities. It’s a sling and it works very well at being a sling.
Great Product
Light weight. I have used it for top rope anchors, and it works fine.
Handy and Dependable
It's an 11mm hybrid material sling. Not much to write about. I have used these to build quick top rope anchors on fixed gear, entirely knot free by just using a carabiner on either side and going straight into the bolts. Likely handy for all kinds of stuff, but our group is not as adventuresome as others yet!
Good sling however...
I used these slots for all my alpine draws, great stuff and work like a charm. However I personally do not agree with the anchor building aspect of this product. Most anchors use some sort of knots. A knot in dyneema will reduce its max kn rating by 50%+. They can be used in slinding X’s and girth hitches without reduction in strength. Again I would use this product only for draws and slinging trees!
