For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

I've had these shoes for at least a couple months now. I have not ever worn the men's solution so I can't really compare. However, I have had 3 pairs of Miuras...one laces and two VS. It's difficult to say which pair I like more. These are definitely more aggressive. They edge well and the heel is great to heel-hook. I feel like I can toe-in a little better with these than my Miuras. These are definitely more painful to break in. I used a plastic sac on my heel to slip them on for the first time and walked/climbed around the gym painfully for 15 minutes. After that first day, they felt fine. I wear a 6.5 street shoe and bought a 35.5 in the solutions, which is also the size I wear in the miuras. My only complaint is that I tend to slip a little more in these in the gym, but haven't had issues outside on sandstone.
I've had the Solutions for roughly 7 months and love them for a specific kind of climbing - these are definitely the pair to strap on when you're working on your project or for intense bouldering session. The rubber (and even the shoe itself) is holding up phenomenally. I mainly climb in the gym and am constantly taking these on and off and the straps are holding up fine. These excel in overhanging terrain - the little hook of a toe can really hang on the smallest holds when you're pretty much horizontal. They've also allowed me to "grab" at holds, giving me just that much more reach which is great for a short climber like me (5'2 female for reference). These are okay at slabbier terrain but that little hook of a toe doesn't edge that great. Once you are used to it, though, it's not so bad and I can see someone using this as a primary shoe. I find them to be fairly comfortable and thought the breaking in process went pretty quickly. The heel on these is amazing! These fit me a lot better than my miuras (sizing up or down didn't help, they just made my feet and toes hurt, even months after breaking in). One thing to note: I have Morton's toe (2nd toe is longer than my big toe) and sometimes my big toe sort of wedges over the top of my 2nd toe. I wear tape on my 2nd toe to keep my big toenail from scratching my 2nd toe, but this never happened with other climbing shoes. FWIW: I am a womens size 8 - 8.5 and went to a 38 (size 7) in the Solutions. This is the same size I wear in the Katanas but I probably could have sized down to a 37.5 in those if I wanted a performance fit. Also, my Katanas stretched a bit more than the Solutions did. I think this is because pretty much half of the Solutions is rubber, making it awesome for heel hooks and toe hooks but it also means they didn't stretch as much when breaking in.
These shoes are great because they are so aggressive. Like any other climbing shoes they needed a break-in period to get used to them. My left big toe hurt for awhile but I am slowly adjusting to them. These are great for toe hooks, toe jams, and heel hooks. Since it's so aggressive, I can't keep these on my feet for a long period of time. Worth the money in my opionion to improve climbing techniques.
I have worn these shoes in the gym and outdoors for about a year and i still sometimes can't even walk 3 steps to the wall. My big toe is much longer than my 2nd and third.. And it just get absolutely destroyed. Everyone said they would break in but it's been about a year and I'm finally giving up. I'm sure these work quite well for people with different shaped feet because honestly they're amazing. They're well made and feel great I until I stand up and my toe gets crushed. I've been climbing a few years so it's not just me being a newbie.. These shoes are painful!!
I hesitated for a long time before finally caving and buying the Women's Solution. I was convinced that they were too downturned, wouldn't smear well, would be too aggressive for me, etc. I had worn the Men's Miuras for a while, an overall good shoe but too stiff and baggy in the heel for me. I also tried the Futuras and had the same problem with the heel. After hearing nothing but rave reviews from all of my strongest and most experienced friends, I gave them a try. The downturned toe, while initially intimidating, makes you feel secure on even the tiniest of feet. The heel is amazing and makes heel hooking a breeze. The toe rubber is great for toe hooking. While the Solutions don't smear easily, it is still possible and not too challenging to do. Overall the shoes are quite comfortable, sturdy yet not too stiff, and slightly sensitive. I personally like a supportive show that still allows me to feel the terrain I am climbing on. The Solutions do just that. Size wise, I opted for two whole sizes down from my street shoe size. The Solutions don't stretch much, but rather mold to the shape of your foot and become more comfortable with wear. The ideal shoe for all of your indoor and outdoor bouldering needs!
I have had my solutions for almost four years, climbing inside and out, bouldering and walls. These shoes have stood the test of time, finally being sent off for a resole. I’ve had the mythos and muiras, but for me and my rediculous big first toe, it’s a perfect glass slipper that makes this princess hit the ball hard. They fit perfectly snug and was happy the second I popped them on. Going to throw down for a second pair...wish the color choice was less bubblegum though.
