Thank You REI!
Debated between REI's outdoor blanket and Woolrich's, and it came down to dimensions: REI's is more rectangular. How might this matter? I was house-sitting in Santa Fe with my mom and the temperature plummeted. We found no blankets to add to the bed's summer cover. As luck (and good design) would have it, the length of this outdoor blanket fits across the width of a full/queen bed. fleece-side down, we were toasty warm. Additionally, the shape allows more people to sit side-by-side for concerts, picnics, etc., or a person could lay length-wise along its 6ft. Thought it might be hard to get back into the bag but had no trouble, and the strap's good and sturdy. If I had to list something I'd change it might be the color, but I'll take utilitarian over cosmetic any day. Well done REI!
Best Buy
Used to stay warm and dry under the soccer tent during games Great for cool to cold weather Great in damp rainy weather Great to lay on the wet ground to have a dry place to sit
Great purchase
We use this when sitting on the sidelines watching kids sports. Compact and waterproof! Love it!
Perfect for leaving in the Jeep
I purchased this blanket specifically for leaving in the back on my Jeep. In the storage bag, it fits perfectly under the back seat. The kids know it's aways there. They pull it out and use it when it gets a little cold at night and the top is down. Also, since one side is made of the heavier nylon material, it's great for an impromptu picnic, or laying out at the beach.
Warm blanket- good enough for wet ground
Exactly what I needed to install my family on the grass for a pic nic. Light, warm, comfortable, and does the job as far as keeping us dry.
Nice blanket - color looks like the ground
This is a great blanket for picnics and is easily cleaned. At large outdoor events the color looks too much like the ground (grass and dirt) making it difficult for people to see as they walk over it. It is also difficult to find in the other sea of blankets. I also wish the size was larger and square shaped. 6'x6' would be perfect!
Well worth the money
The blanket is well made, if not a touch on the small side. We had a picnic yesterday when the ground was still a little damp from recent rains, and we stayed perfectly dry and happy on it. The plastic backing was well worth the money!!
Great for a day at the beach!
Picked this up a month ago and we've spent a couple days on the beach with it. The included stuff sack makes it each to attach to my day pack and its cleans easily.
Great for concerts/picnics/hiking
Bought this blanket to use at a concert in the grass. It was super comfy! The fleece is nice and soft, and the nylon layer keeps the moisture off of ya if there's any dew or whatever. Also keeps the underside of the blanket protected from rocks/etc. Well worth the money, especially since it's only $10 more than those ultra-lightweight ones.
Shoddy Stitching
REI Outdoor Blanket fails a basic field test. Stay away from this blanket unless you are comfortable sewing it back together. After the first use, I had to sew the fleece back onto the tough, 150-denier polyester oxford backing. I expect better quality from a $40 blanket, and so should you.
