Awesome Hammock
My husband and I love this hammock. It's well made both he and I fit comfortably. He is 172lbs, I'm 124lbs. We take it everywhere we can, including backpacking. It's a little heavy to take on a long backpacking trip. But it's a well worth luxury and a most rewarding item to have. It really adds to your outdoors experience. Let me paint the picture. You go on a 7 mile hike in the mountains and when you return you slumber in your hammock and drink some hot tea and gaze at the sun setting and moon rising. A must have and a great gift. We have had ours for 3 years and no issues, only great memories!
Worth it
This hammock is awesome! I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for 2... I sleep in it backpacking/kayak camping (can get chilly if you don't put a pad in it to block the wind). Maybe two small children or small people. Anyways, I've taken it on several trips and the people I go with end up buying one when we get home. It's relatively light (worth it for the luxury though). I switched out their carabiners for better ones but that was personal preference. Easy to fold up. Straps are easy to use. Worth the price. If only the bug net and rain fly weren't outrageously over priced. Amazing for naps on a summer day too.
Comfortable and no center seam!
There is no center seam on my Double Deluxe - maybe they came out with a new model. If you get one with a seam, return it for another! This hammock is far superior to the doublenest and is super-comfortable. It's very wide - I'm 5'3 and can stretch out completely perpendicular in it, which makes it great for relaxing, swinging, or sleeping. It fits two people perfectly and is quite sturdy (which is very important if you have a sister who likes to tickle you). I use mine with the Atlas straps (although I wish I'd bought the XL for larger trees), the pro fly tarp, and the Blaze underquilt for camping. It's definitely worth the upgrade since you get so much more room for everyone who will want to invade your space as soon as they see how much fun you're having. :-)
Not as great as I first thought
I have reconsidered my first glowing review of the ENO Double Deluxe hammock. It has a seam in the center of the hammock that is tighter when you set up your hammock and therefore sticks up higher when you lay in the hammock. It comes from the extra material that is sewn in to make it larger ( and therefore the Deluxe model I guess ) than the regular double nest hammock. I will be returning this to REI and either getting another ENO double nest hammock which I already have one of and love by the way or getting a refund. Just another reason to buy from REI as their return policy is always the best if you are not pleased with a product purchased from them.
If you want a ENO, buy std dbl. NOT THIS
I bought this product to use at our lake home after my kids both had brought their Eno Doublenest Hammocks when they came to visit. BIG MISTAKE. More expensive DOES NOT always mean better. This double deluxe is not deluxe. It's not comfortable (it has a seam running right down the center inside where your back would be). I am going to return this and I ordered a regular Eno Doublenest (I know those are comfortable) and I also ordered a cotton Hammock from REI called a Byer Amazonas Paradiso Double Hammock. I figure I can't go wrong now. But, I should have read the other reviews before I bought the double deluxe. It's going back!
Peace and Quiet!!
We bought this before our recent camping trip at REI in Richmond along with the suspension system. We used it on one our breaks along the trail it surprisingly it held both myself 6' 200# and my wife - it took us a while to get positioned to be comfortable but once that was over it was very enjoyable to sit back and enjoy the sky, mountains and clouds. We used it both as a hammock and as a pseudo porch swing with no issues at all!!. Took a few minutes on how to wrap/hook up the strapping to the "nearest trees" and to adjust so we were not dragging on the ground nor so high that you worried about falling out. With one person it is a lot like a cocoon. Very comfortable I am now keeping it in my day pack!
Essential for every trip.
I started using the ENO Double Deluxe while in the military. Fast forward 3 years and now my wife and daughter have one, all of our camping friends have one. We keep our double deluxe(s) with us in a backpack all the time and we have hundreds of pictures from all over the US enjoying the hammock. The Atlas straps are a must. They stop all stretch and stay secure. I love our hammocks and look forward to warmer temps so we can hang more.
Must have camp/hike/all purpose hammock!
I dig this hammock! Suspension straps make set up super easy. Easily wide enough for 2 but not totally comfortable. With just one in the hammock there is enough fabric to use as a blanket and cover up. Super conoact and light weight!
MIDDLE SEAM RUINS IT!
I bought this hammock for myself, but liked the idea of the extra fabric so that I could surround myself with it and hide. When the hammock is hung, the seam down the center sticks up higher than the sides, forcing you to either lie on one side or the other of it. I wish I had read the other reviewer's comments before I bought this hammock, because I also ended up exchanging it for the regular doublenest. The center seam was the tipping point. The doublenest is perfect for me and has plenty of fabric on the sides so that I can cover myself up. This hammock might work for two people who want the center seam to kind of delineate the two sides, but personally I've found that two people in a hammock is never very comfortable anyway.
Outstanding Product
I have lower back problems, and this hammock is better than a sleeping bag on an air mattress in a tent. No center seam (they must have listened to some previous reviews) so this was not a problem. My son (11yo) and I used it this past weekend on the AT with his Trail Life troop, and there was more than enough room for us both - room yes - but not comfortable. We tried various positions, but both kept sliding to the middle from the ends and the sides. That's the only reason why 4 stars. Easy to set up and take down. This was the first camp-out where we were not the last ones to completely break camp.
