I got this jacket for trekking into work during the rainy weather and any outdoor adventuring that might come up. I love it so much that it has turned into my everyday jacket. I recently took it up to the Boundary Waters in Minnesota for a fall trip. It was cold, rainy, and windy. I stayed warm, dry, and happy. Not sure if I can say enough how much I love this jacket.
Best waterproof shell I've had. Been in Seattle 10 years and tired of getting wet. I've had a couple of REI, Mountain Hardware and NorthFace. North Face was the only one that was truly waterproof but it's not a shell more of a ski jacket. I wanted something light but truly waterproof and durable (think hiking near blackberry bushes, etc.). I've been in some downpours and kept perfectly dry without being sweaty. The hood with a bill is nice and it's very adjustable. 4 things I wish were different but haven't created problems yet: 1. Wish the hood came off (just a preference) 2. Wish the zipper was a bit more robust. I think it's just nylon and I'm worried it may not last more than a few years. At this pricepoint I expect to have the jacket at least 10 years. 3. Wish the sleeves had some elastic to compliment the velcro. The velcro will eventually wear and may be tough to replace without damaging waterproof integrity 4. Armpits should be placed in a little different spot. So far, hard for me to operatewith one hand. The 4 concerns almost made me give it a 4, but it's so dang waterproof, that I kept the 5.
