Great Book

We have had this book for years and my wife and I continually go back to it. If you are a fan of the White Mountains in NH this book is for you filled with short stories of many of the original settlers of that area. You will read amazing tales of resilience as well as tales of tragedy. You will learn about many of the people who’s names are now the labels of the very trails and mountains you climb. A great read

Must read for NH's White Mountain lovers

If you love hiking in the White Mountains, this is a must read. Howe tells stories of misadventure with a narrative that is captivating, pulling the reader in with passion and excitement that makes you recollect your own hikes. Many of the stories pull in the history of the names of many trails/lodgings in the area, such as the Observatory, the cog, Pinkham, and how they all left their mark on adventuring in the mountains.
