Love it!
I am only 5'2" and too skinny to fit into adult size, so I bought two of these to my Egypt trip. The waist width of this pants is too wide, but it is belt friendly and has a hidden waistband for further adjustment. Very considerate!!! Pant legs have side zippers for easy conversion to shorts, so that you don't have to take off your shoes! They dry fast too! I used to wear this outside of my cotton pants as a wind blocker. So far, the problem is the zipper...^_^" The zipper appears as is it can be easily broken. Zip it with caution then.
Great Pants for changing Weather!!
These are the only convertible pants I will buy for my 3 boys. I have tried others, but the legs seem to walk off, or never get reattached by anyone but me. Not with the REI pants!! With the color coding on the leg zippers they can reattach the legs themselves!! We travel A LOT with a lot of temperature changes. These are my boys go to pants for traveling from cold temps at home, to warm temps away. The caribeener made them love them even more. These pants have survived 3 boys fishing in Alaska and hiking in Costa RIca. We own them in just about every size and color.
Great for small women
I'm a 5'2" woman, weigh about 110, and the XL's are pretty good, if a little roomy. Like another reviewer said, the waistband is somewhat adjustable. I wear them hiking and backpacking in the desert and I love that the fabric is thin but durable. The women's zip-off pants I've tried are much more expensive and usually have too much room in the butt!
Great Multipurpose Pants
I bought these pants for my 14 year old son that loves to backpack, hike, and bicycle. He's tall and slender with long legs. It's difficult to find pants that are fitted for his waist with a long inseam.Too slender for mens, too tall for most kids pants.I found the holy grail! The hidden adjustable waistband is perfect. The largest size pant had an inseam that was long enough for him to not feel like he was flooding. It was easy for him to remove and attach the pant bottoms especially with the side zippers and each pant leg is color matched. No guessing which piece goes with which pant leg and he didn't have to take his shoes off.The pant style is great with the side cargo pockets to store essentials and the caribiner keeps items in check. He looked perfectly outfitted in these pants and REI's Joshua long sleeve tee. It was totally appropriate for casual wear or rigourous outdoor trekking.Best of all, he loved the clothes and how comfortable they are.
Great Pants
My 9 yr old son loves this pant! He seems to always go for these when choosing his clothes for the day and the fact they "zip off" makes it more desirable. The only downside is that because they come in combo sizing (ie..10-12) at the smaller end they can be too long and the back pant hem gets frayed before he grows into the larger size.
Great looking but not at all durable
I bought these pants for my 10 year old. They were so cute on him and he loved them so I bought a second pair. He has worn them each for less than two months and they both already have holes in the knees. He's not that active of a kid, either. Major bummer. The fabric just isn't durable.
