Good bottle

The 20oz bottle is my go too for most longish camping trips (4 to 6 days) in warmer weather and weekends in the winter when I will be melting a lot of snow to drink. It holds enough fuel for my DragonFly stove to burn for about 2hrs on full bore and longer if I'm doing a lot of simmering. The trick to the child proof cap is to NOT tighten it down as tight as the original caps needed to be tightened. If you keep from doing this, they work great. If you do tighten it too much then use a stick or some other lever through the loop at the top to help get it open (as I think has been mentioned before). Over all a great bottle and cap combo.

Bottle is great , but for us older folks with hand/joint issues an easy open cap should be an option

Sturdy Bottle

I have the older version of this bottle that has a regular cap on it. This bottle has never leaked and can take a beating, it has the dents to prove it. Having 20oz of liquid fuel is plenty for my wife and I to spend a 2-3 days backcountry using it twice a day. The liquid fuel option is so much better to me because I can get that fuel at [...] or any outdoor store. And I keep a few gallons at the house anyway. Another advantage is the that you have pourable fire starter. I used some extra fuel to get some wood that had been rained on and then froze lit. It was very nice to get that going in that cold weather, it doesnt take much to get wood going, TRUST me. Great product and dont plan on buying another because this one will last forever.

Works:

I know that some folks have trouble with the cap on these (and it really is a little more difficult to open, but not prohibitively so, unless one grossly over-tightens it), but I personally like it because it is less likely to accidentally open in the pack and deposit fuel on all the gear therein. Just tighten it as you would a water bottle and I doubt you'll ever have any trouble out of it (I haven't). It's also noteworthy that they use a good quality seal that lasts a good while and is fuel resistant (which is one reason you shouldn't use a water bottle for a fuel container...the other being that they do not clearly indicate the contents). In short it does what it's supposed to, it holds fuel without leaking...how bad could they mess up a bottle?

Resilient, Good Size

Sturdy bottle that's a great size to take camping. My partner and I used this for the first time recently and found when full and used with the MSR Dragonfly Whisperlite we could cook for several days (3 in our case) and still have the container be more than half full. We used this with white gas and found the cap stood up well and kept the contents from leaking even when I dropped it on the ground from table height. No ding in side from drop either!

good for camp fuel - other cap options available

OK - so I read some reviews that the "Child Proof" cap is difficult to deal with... guess what - do some looking around and research and MRS still makes the "Non-Child Proof" caps for older bottles and they work fine with this bottle as well.... I have also found these bottles to be slightly better material than some of the others out there - less likely to split open or leak under pressure from heat, dropping, etc.

No more crunchy dehydrated food packs!!

I do a lot of traveling with camp gear and one of my biggest problems if flying with compressed gasses. You know those little bottles of ISO gas. Ya you cant fly with those!! Many of the locations that I have traveled too ALSO don't sell compressed gas. This has left me numerous times looking down at my stock pile of dehydrated food packs and no means to heat water to eat them...mmmmm crunchy... So recently i converted to the whisper light series using these handy bottles to carry fuel. No need to worry about fly ( just empty the bottles first) and refilling ( as long as theres a gas station somewhere). Happy Adventuring !!

Straight forward

I have used this bottle, along with my Dragon Fly, for over 4 years now and have never had any issues. No leaks, no drips, no worries. It is durable, but like anything in the backpacking/outdoor world, it's not immune to wear. Couple of observations while reading some reviews, that should be obvious but apparently are not. The bottle is shipped empty (why that is a shocker is beyond me). Additionally, yes the cap is child proof, but not that difficult to open- even with my 53 year old arthritic hands. Like any bottle with a lid, if you over tighten, you will have a challenge opening it. You really do not need to wrench it closed. However, you can get an alternative cap, but I would be wary of that cap, for an obvious reason- if you fail to properly close it, your trip suddenly becomes miserable. With the original cap, there is no mistake you have closed it and therefore have no, or little, worries of a leak.

Great for some key reasons

MY opinion: MSR Whisperlite International is the best stove money can buy. Read my review for some reasons why. One reason of course being that you don't need to buy disposable fuel canisters. - When choosing fuel bottle size, consider whether you will be carrying the weight on your own, or if you have the ability to spread the weight. If the latter is true, buy smaller canisters. They take less pumping (less work) and don't require one of your campmates, or yourself to be a packhorse. - The child resistant cap can be a huge pain. Don't over-tighten it, as it won't unscrew accidentally (due to it's child resistant cap), and can be quite difficult to torque for removal with the C-P cap. I had to insert my multi-tool pliers through the cap hook for torque while pressing down in order to remove the cap when I first learned this lesson. Save yourself the trouble ; don't over-tighten the CPC. A friend gave me this simple rule to use when determining what size/hw many fuel canisters I needed. 10oz = 1hour of burn time. This isn't exactly accurate, but it's a good starting place.

Reasonably light and sturdy

There is really not much to say about this product. It's light, it works. The finish scratches easy but it's camping gear after all, likely to be placed on the ground most of the time. There is a lot of noise about the childproof cap. It works just like a standard prescription bottle.
