Rated 5 out of 5 by from OUTSTANDING I love this paddle. I started out with a heavy, cheap Al paddle. I have had three shoulder surgeries, and after an hour my shoulders would be killing me. The Werner Camano is so lightweight I can paddle with it for five hours no problem. The blade does seem a little delicate, so I wouldn't use it for whacking rocks. The ferrule fits very tightly with no wiggle. The release button is even with the shaft. Lots of adjustment in 15 degree steps. The shaft has a slight texture so it won't slip when wet, but it will irritate your hands without gloves after an hour or two. If I broke it, I would buy another in an instant.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so far, well worth the money I only got out with it once before the weather got too cold, but FWIW, I'm a believer. Over several hours on the water, I just wasn't conscious of the weight. The adjustable feather angle turned out useful too--I'd thought that, for my style of paddling, 0° would be the thing, but it turned out that 15° was best. Nice to have options. Notwithstanding the light weight, the blade and shaft were totally stiff when I had to use the paddle to push against something. I think I can see what people mean when they say that it's better to spend on the paddle and save on the kayak. (My kayak, btw, is a 10' Old Town Trip.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Getchya Some Just used this paddle for the first time today. It is the first kayak paddle I have ever owned. The REI representative recommended paying less on my kayak and more on a paddle because that's what really matters. I completely agree now. This thing is so light and smooth in the water. The adjustable ferrule is great for feathering, which I'm still getting used to after using rental paddles for a long time. Plus I'm a tall guy (6'6") so the 240 cm is perfect in length and it's finally nice to have a paddle that's long enough for me. I can't wait to use this thing more. Great that it breaks down too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good paddle is essential This is my third paddle. The first came as a package. The I upgraded to aqua bound expedition, cabon paddle (no longer made). And now this paddle. Each paddle has made kayaking more enjoyable. I bought the camano earlier this week at the Tyson's corner rei and used it for the first time today. All I can say is wow! Higher average speed than with the aqua bound (measured on GPS) with less effort. This paddle is light. Pulls through the water without any flutter. I felt like I could paddle all day! The adjustable feather is a great feature. The day started calm so I started with a 45 degree feather, and as the winds picked up, changed the 60. Remember. When buying a kayak, put as much thought and research into the paddle as you do for the kayak. Demo a few.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderfully light I am a big fan of this paddle. I have used it on sloughs, reservoirs, slow moving rivers and lakes. It's light and comfortable. And the red blades glow rather attractively in sunlight. I have a relatively inexpensive Riot flat water canoe and spent roughly 40% of the cost of the kayak on the paddle. It was the right decision. I have paddled with slightly heavier paddles and the difference is very large. Highly recommended. This past weekend I kayaked into a tide and wind. It was hard going, but the paddle did not let me down. It works well even if you have dig deep in to the water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for - a lot! Let me first say that I don't own a phenomenal kayak. In fact, this paddle costs nearly as much as my boat did (and more than my first boat!) But it is absolutely, 100% worth the money. It weighs almost nothing, I can go around paddling it for hours. It's also very powerful - the first time I took it out I thought I was pushing off solid ground. I had to check that I wasn't hitting the bottom of the lake! It does actually increase my kayaking speed. Fantastic paddle, well worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have What a nice paddle, I have always owned low end kayak paddles. Finally I decided to see what the craze was about. All I can say is wow, I usually take the same route through the marina and I know exactly when my arms and joints will start hurting. With this Paddle, after going twice the distance pain is nowhere in sight. Very efficient, moves through the water whisper quiet and takes little effort to get you moving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Paddle ever! I am amazed at the strength of this paddle. Ok, yes, it's light, and that makes paddling amazingly easy and effortless, and reduces fatigue by a tremendous amount. But my experience goes beyond that. I had to do a wet entry into my kayak, and I was really worried about the shaft breaking. I'm not a small guy, at about 230#. I went over in Puget Sound, kinda cold out there. I didn't have a lot of time to get back into the boat, so out comes the paddle float, attached and inflated, I rigged the paddle into the deck rigging like an outrigger, and prayed the shaft wouldn't snap. WELL, it didn't. It hardly bent as I hefted myself up onto the shaft, my boat and into the cockpit. The shaft held a good percentage of my weight during this process. I have to admit, GREAT PADDLE, yes, it's TOUGH, it's light weight is great to paddle with, but the strength and quality of this paddle most likely saved my life that day!! I'll be learning how to roll my boat for sure now!

Can this paddle work for a solo canoe outing?

Asked by: JeffMaz
This paddle could work in that situation. However, while some canoes are designed to be used with either a canoe or kayak paddle, without knowing more we recommend considering a true canoe paddle for your trip. Here's a link:

What are the sizing recommendations? Kayak is 15 foot, ocean use. I am 6'1".

Asked by: Jim St Croix
If the kayak width is less than 28", the 230cm is the right size. There is a link for a sizing chart on the upper right side of the page.
