Great boots for pilgrims

I walked the Camino de Santiago in these boots - a month across Spain starting in the Pyrenees. I spent about 4 hours in the boots before taking off on the trek (not much break-in time), and on the trip I was carrying a 25 pound pack about 8 hours a day. The amazing - and I do mean amazing - thing is that I never had a single blister. Never - the whole time. We met hundreds of people walking the Camino - and every single person had blisters - some horrific. But these boots (and good thick hiking socks) saved me from that fate. We hit some bad rain, too, and the boots held up well. They dried quickly and never got too hot or stinky.
When they first arrived, I was afraid they would be too wide - they look wide. But the fit was perfect - true to size and my foot didn't slid around at all. I suspect that extra room in the toe box was part of the reason I never got blisters.
I highly recommend these boots and will be buying another pair to have as back up in case anything happens to the first pair.

I have very wide feet and was happy to find these boots which had good toe box space.
After a short hike, I felt my left boot was rubbing against my left ankle bone. At first, I barely noticed it, but after a couple of hours, it became very painful. My right foot stayed very comfortable and pain-free.
After 2 more days of trying to break in the left boot, I still felt the pain. Then, I took off the boots and compared the left and right boot very closely and realized that the left boot has got at least 1cm longer ankle support than right boot, and this excess fabric has created the pain. When I compared right and left shoes closely, I also notice how uneven they were.
This is my first Keen product purchase so I can't tell if it was just my pure luck that I received a defective product, or they generally have poor quality. I'm not interested to try another pair from them for an experiment. It's too bad because other part of the boots felt wonderful.
I also noticed these boots were very warm, could be too warm for summer hike.

I have bought the same boots for 15 years. I go through two pairs a year now. Each year the quality has gone down. A pair used to last 9 to 12 months of daily wear outside. Now I am lucky if they last 5 months. The stitching in the toe box area always frays and comes undone. Sometimes the glue comes apart from the sole of the shoe on the side. Why do I keep buying them? I have yet to find a more comfortable boot with no break in period. A new pair feels like the old pair. Comfort means everything when wearing a boot everyday for 8hrs or more.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had several of these boots. They usually last for a year. I bought these in April. It’s now end July. The side front areas in both sides of both boots are developing a crease and moisture is getting in. That happened to my last pair after almost a year. I’m 112 pounds.

Cushions feet all day

I'm so happy I bought these boots! They coushioned my feet and the wide toebox was helpful. I ordered a half size larger than what I measured and could only wear 1 pair of light hiking socks. I used them for training at home and walked the Camino de Santiago in them during rainy, muddy season. They held up over tough terrain and long days sometimes 14 to 17 miles. I tried to make do with a 2nd less expensive backup pair for the Camino but they didn't measure up to the Targhiis and ended up only using the Keens from day 2 on. The only downside was they are not waterproof when you step in a puddle. I'm looking to buy another pair of Targhii mids when they go on sale!

I almost gave up trying to find boots that fit my feet. After 20+ pairs, these came in the mail and I've never looked back. Wore these for two weeks straight. No hot spots, no blisters, no uncomfortable moments; I almost forgot I was wearing them. At one point the top of my foot developed a twinge but it was because I tied the laces wrong. My toes were never pinched like in many other boots and nothing was cramped. I sized up one full size and that worked out best. I can't speak about durability as I've only had them for a month, but I am very happy with the performance thus far.

Great Boots for Beginning Hikers!

If I could marry these hiking boots, I would. I bought these boots a couple of weeks ago as my first ever pair of hiking boots and they have worked out so so well. They are comfortable, provide great ankle support, and are extremely durable. I have walked over lots of different surfaces in them and they have been sturdy through them all - they even have pretty decent traction in the snow! The longest hike I used them on was a 6 mile 4.5 hour trip and by the end of it my feet weren't even sore. The only con I can think of regarding these boots is that the laces are kind of hard to tighten. I like my shoes to be really snug and tight and I have to work pretty hard to get the shoelaces to be super tight. Other than that though, the boots are great! I would recommend them to everyone.

New boots bring comfort

I was long overdue for a new pair of hiking boots. I needed something comfortable (I wear orthotics), water repellent, and with good traction. I did not want to spend a ton of money and these fit the bill. I don't know how durable they are because I have only used them to go to work on a trail work party as well as one day hike. The great thing about it is the boot is very light weight. Another reason I chose these, besides those mentioned, is I already have a pair of sandals made by the same manufacturer and they are the most comfortable pair of sandals I own...and those have proven to be very durable. The fit is snug but not too so.

I used this boot mainly at first to support a healing broken ankle. I walk all over Europe since I live there and the boot was comfy, water proof, warm (sometimes too warm when it was hot out), and looked great! My only problem with the boot was that after 3 months of daily wear, the treads on the side of the bottom of the boot started pealing off the main sole. I was told that is is something that KEEN is known for, so I took them back and got another pair with no problem. I wished that KEEN would figure out this problem so that I would feel confident in purchasing another pair. Until then I am not sure if I will. Other than that, I recommend this boot! It is great!

LOVE KEEN GENOA PEAK, BUT NOT THIS SHOE

I bought these shoes to replace my Keen Genoa Peak shoes. I wore them almost every day and finally the heels wore down. Everything else about those shoes I loved. When going to replace them I discovered Keen was no longer making them. I replaced them with the Targhee II's and find that the toe box is not as wide as the Genoa Peak and the sizing is smaller than the Genoa Peak. I normally wear a size 7 shoe, so bought 7.5 in the Targhee II. They are too short. My large toe bumps the inside of the shoe whereas the same size Genoa Peak fit just fine. I am so disappointed in this shoe! I wish Keen would bring back the Genoa Peak!!!
