We bought 3 of these for our kids to sit round the camp fire on a recent camping trip. Chairs worked out great but one of our kids was holding onto the side rail & as he moved the chair folded & trapped his fingers quite badly... no real damage but lots of tears. The chairs themselves are great & fold nicely for travelling but I would ask any parent buying for a child to be cognizant of what we discovered. Other than that small health warning I'd say the chairs were good, sturdy, easily adjustable & a breeze to pack away between site moves… despite the trapped finger I wouldn't have an issue buying them all over again.
Ok, the fact that it's hard to get out of becuse it's so low to the ground means that it probably doesn't rate a full 5 stars, but this chair supports my back like no other camp chair I've tried. The straps can be adjusted to make for a firm support and comfortable angle that work for me. If I stretch my legs out, I sometimes need some padding between the aluminum frame and the back of my legs. But it's still worth it to find a chair that I can sit in for long periods of time without my back hurting.
We are adding car camping to our outdoor activities this year. I researched camp chairs thoroughly and was willing to pay whatever the best one cost. To my happy surprise the GCI Everywhere chair meets all our requirements and then some. It does not take up much room when packed, but, most importantly, it is comfortable. In fact, I am using it almost exclusively in the house now and out on the deck. The one-handed adjustment strap is great. It's very stable. We love it!
I bought one mid summer to try out as a third seat for use in our 17' canoe... it actually worked out very well. We since started shopping for a pair of chairs to pack on a cycle Oregon trip - we've decided we like this GCI chair enough that we are going to purchase a second. We tried one of the other classic travel chairs that REI sells but it could not compete with this GCI chair for comfort. (We were looking for chairs that could fit inside "the one 65 pound XXXL bag" we are each limmitted to on this bike trip)
Great comfortable camp chair that sits low to the ground, so you can take it for concerts or plays in the park, etc. They are low enough that when your stretch out your legs, you don;t need a foot stool. Also the posture is infinitely adjustable - you can recline or sit upright. I like the upright ability because so many camp chairs overly recline, in my opinion. Folds fairly flat, but still more bulky to store and transport than the fold-up chairs-in-a-bag. Heavy construction, which also means it's fairly heavy to carry them The biggest con is that it is real difficult to get up out of the chairs - they have no arms to help propel you up, and well, they are real low to the ground. Pretty expensive unless you get them on sale. When on sale they are very good value for the money if you have the room for them. The biggest pro is that they are very comfortable for this type of chair.
Great for the beach and places where you might end up sitting on a slope such as a kids soccer game. Easily adjusts for slopes so you don't feel like you're going to fall forward. Lays flat when stored. It would be nice if the back were a little taller for my 6'1" frame.
I have an earlier model of this. It folds entirely flat so is perfect for packing when you need to squeeze in a lot of gear. BUT, it is really hard to get up from. There is nothing reliable to put your hand onto to help yourself up. So I've decided I'm a little too old/out of shape to keep these in my collection. Bigger chairs, in combination w/ the cots we like to sleep on now, have required a bigger car for our gear!
Totally happy with the purchase! The chair is very comfortable & easy to carry. Works great for the beach.
great chair. much better than the collapsible chairs that slide in the bag
This chair is way more comfortable & adjustable than I expected. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is it can open on it's own when carrying it. (easily fixed with rubber tie or Velcro strap)
