Did the job for me; easy to pack/ship
I bought this tool to remove and reinstall pedals for shipping our road bikes. Our bikes both have Shimano A530 pedals on a road bike. The bottom line is that the tool works for the intended purpose, and it is easy to pack in your shipping box so that you can reinstall the pedals when you arrive at your destination. I had originally tried the Pedro's Hex Pedal wrench to get my pedals off; I wasn't able to budge the pedals with that tool. When I returned the Pedro's tool, the bike specialist at REI said that he would always recommend the Park tool instead because it provides much better leverage. There are more expensive Park models with more leverage, but I found that this Home Mechanics version provided just enough leverage to get the pedals off, while still being small and light enough to pack with me for our bike trips. I have removed the pedals from each bike 3 times, and I have reinstalled the pedals on each bike 3 times: the tool is holding up fine.

Light use only, not for daily use
I occasionally ship bikes and having a tool like this is very handy versus using a standard 15mm wrench. I was able to take 3 sets of pedals off with this tool but the 4th bike stripped the wrench and could not get pedals off. I returned the wrench. Looking for something a bit more sturdy.

Does the Job well.

Couldn't get the Pedals off with a regular (too thick) 15mm wrench and my bike Multitool didn't give me the leverage I needed to budge the stock pedals on my bike. So I went to my neighborhood REI store and bought this wrench. Those pedals came off with ease. It a very well made tool and plenty heavy duty for years of service. I can't see anyone stripping that tool unless they are turning it the wrong way or Over Torquing the pedals. No need to buy anything more expensive unless you own a bike shop and remove and install pedals a zillion times a day. Very happy with my purchase.

Great for the home shop

I bought this wrench because I needed to swap out pedals for a new bike. I was hesitant to spend the extra money on the professional quality tool (the PW-3), and this wrench did what I wanted it to, it took my pedals off the old bike and put them on the new one. I did have some trouble getting a good grip on the wrench. So I used a small shop rag to get a better grip on the end and it worked fine. The PW-3 has better grip, and the handle is shaped such that you could slip a pipe over it to increase the leverage. However for my purposes, I don't think I will have much need for that design (if I did, I would go to the bike co-op and use theirs). The tool, like all Park tools, is built to last. Unless I'm changing tons of pedals, or there's a super-stubborn pedal, I'll stick with this wrench and be glad I saved a few bucks.

Takes pedals off just fine

The tool does what it says it does. I read the other reviews before buying. I don't feel that it is weak, no spread of the tool. I've taken off and attached a few pedals, no problem

A must have

I have different bikes with different pedals and it is not rare for me to have to swap or replace pedals. This tool makes it sooo easy. A must have for the avid biker. Hook the wrench to the pedal and pull down towards the handle bar (or the front of the bike) for each side.

Works Great!

Does exactly what you need it to. I struggled to get my old pedals off with a regular wrench. Bought this wrench and the pedals came off with ease. Some people are complaining about the price, but for $13 it’s well worth it. Will likely last you a long time. If you’re into bikes, have family members who have bikes, you’ll get your money worth out of it.

Don't Bother

I used the wrench to remove the left pedal (yes I know it's left hand thread) which I did get off. By the time it was off the jaws had spread and started to round where the nut bit into them. I was unable to remove the right hand pedal because of jaw wear - the wrench simply spun around the nut. The pedals are made by Shimano. Bike is 4 years old and ridden occassionally.

great product

I have a habit of over-tightening my pedals (flats and spd’s) and I could not get my pedals lose with a 6mm t-handle hex wrench. I bought this wrench, got both pedals off within 5 mins. I got stripped out pedals off of my old bike too. Best $20 I’ve spent in a long time.

Exactly what we needed.

Purchased to help my Grandsons change out pedals and is a great tool for the price; Non-stop handle, slim design and overall length made it easy for them to use.
