Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Guide This book is an awesome reference when I'm trying to find a local hike or camping location. My cousin and I like to do a lot of overnight backpacking trips. The included map is perfect for finding a good trail with off-trail camping(as opposed to the park-your-car-and-camp-beside-it type camping, which is also included for families). The trails on the map are numbered, so if you want more details you just open the book to that trail and instantly find more info on how hard it is, how long, if there's water access, what you can expect to see on the way, how to get there and more. My only complaint would be that some of the distances seem inaccurate. The last trail I hiked I had my Strava app on my phone running, and all the trails that said 1.5 miles were somewhere between 2 and 2.5. Could be my Strava app or gps signal though, but I thought it worth mentioning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best guide for the area Best guide available for the San Gorgonio Wilderness, San Jacintos, and Santa Rosa mountain range. Accurate information on hiking and camping as well as interesting history of the areas. I think I've owned three editions; I give older ones away and buy a new one when I feel like updating. Map included gives you a good idea of the trails, but I'd carry the Tom Harrison map of the area for more detail and topography.
