Excellent product
First of all I love these racks. I have a 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek. I used these to attach the aero blade bars to my car. They work amazingly, and where very easy to install, took my a total of 20mins to install ( I installed them in the REI parking lot). I didn't notice any increase in noise, but that could just be me. The only Con i can find is that the Locks don't come with the product. This was disappointing especially because i bought the xsporter racks for my truck and they come with every thing, including the locks, But with that being said these are this is still a great product and i'm glade i bought them.
Versatile and reliable
Been using various versions for 20+ years. On a wide array of vehicles, bars, trailers and it's never let me down no matter what I carry. I do clean and lubricate the innards so I can remove the feet when needed which is something some people just don't do and then complain later when things seize up. Keep in mind the "rubber" straps that wrap the rails have steel inside so you needn't worry about longevity. Yes they are expensive but compared to the stuff I carry on my racks; pure peace of mind. Over decades of use, never had a single adventure trip ruined by anything coming loose off the roof or trailers with Thule products.
Easy to install, solid and quiet
Bought these and installed them in the REI parking lot within 20 minutes on my Audi A4 Avant. Super easy to install with no tools (save some scissors to trim the rubber). Now that I know how it works, I'd guess at most 10 minutes to get them off my car. The wind noise is minimal enough that I don't need a fairing (plus it would have interfered with my sun roof). The cost of the fairing was pushed into the incremental cost of getting the Aero bars and mounts. The downside is adapters for legacy mounts. I borrowed my friend's ski carrier, and that required to get a slightly pricey adapter to get it mounted. Once I buy my own pieces, I'm sure things will be a breeze.
Solid system
This is the easiest rack system I have ever installed. Looks good too. The only drawback is wind noise at the junction of the footing and the aero bar. I fixed this wind whistle by placing a thin bead of clear silicone caulk at the junction of the bar-footing on the front side of the mounts. Presto about a 90% reduction in wind noise. Save your money and don't buy the fairing-it didn't reduce wind noise at all and costs about 65$ more than a tube of silicone caulk.
Versatile Rack Option
I bought these for my 2012 Honda Odyssey and attached them to the existing factory roof rails. They are strong and sturdy. I've only used them on one road trip with crossbars and a roof box attached, but they performed beautifully as expected.
Great for Toyota 4Runner
Purchased these to equip my 2017 Toyota 4Runner with the capability of mounting a Thule cargo box. They were easy to install and fit the factory roof rails perfectly. I would definitely recommend this item!
Easy to install
Product installs very easily and is very secure. I am getting some wind noise from the aero cross bar, but not when my cargo box is installed. I planned to leave this on the car all the time, but it's so easy to install that I plan to keep the cross bars off when not in use. (though they look cool!) You may not have the noise I get on my X5 when the bar is installed...that can be very car dependent. It took me a couple of times to properly fit the locking end caps on the foot pack. After a couple tries, I got the hang of it, and it's fit better since that first try.
Great Crossbars!
I bought this rack for my 2006 4Runner. It worked great!
Perfect!
I am a big fan of Thule products and this railing foot pack has not disappointed. They hold the cross bars very well. The only issue is that if you don't purchase a lock for these, someone can steal your roof rack systems. However I leave mine on my jeep all the time and I have never had any issues.
New Fan of Thule
I have been a lifelong Yakima devotee until this recent Thule purchase (sorry Yakima!). I recently purchased a Golf Alltrack and that same week, purchased a Yakima base system (Timberline and Jetstream Silver Bars). I reluctantly returned the set because the 50 inch bars (is Yakima’s smallest) plus the added inch or two with the end plugs looked hideous on a small vehicle as both sides was about 3+ inches too long on each side. I ended up purchasing the Thule set that offered a 47 inch aeroblade along with this Rapid Crossroad Pack. As you can see from the picture, it is a perfect fit for a vehicle of this size. Since I was able to experience both systems days apart, what really sets the Thule apart is: Engineering - Each foot has affixed hex wrench that is easy to use (vs Yakima's one hex wrench) - what a concept! - Each foot only has one bolt to tighten for the bar and raised rail so very easy to put on and off whereas Yakima has two bolts for each foot, one for the bar and one for raised rail and you need to have a Phd to read the instructions Appearance - Subjective, but I think the system just looks better and certainly better than the integrated sets Even though I am extremely happy with the Thule set, I would consider few knocks against Thule: - Similar to Yakima and more for Thule, the kit should come with included locks as having an attached hex wrench to each of the foot would be easy target for theft. Regardless, don’t leave the store without purchasing the locks as it is a small price to pay for an expensive investment along with whatever you are carrying on top. - Let’s face it, any bar regardless of manufacturer will create wind noise - and the new Thule fairings look ridiculous so you will have to look beyond the multiple unattractive fairing creases and materials for a quieter ride on the highway. Lastly, my positive experiences with REI is the reason why I keep coming back. The price is the same with other online sites plus you get to actually see the items and talk to an experienced salesperson - so why would anyone order online and wait for who knows how long to ship and deal with sending back if there are issues like I did. In addition, the return process at REI is just amazing.
