Fits and Protects
These things work just fine. All crampons made within the last 20 years or so collapse with the center bar and fit in this bag nicely. Just push them together and put them in point to point. Point to point is also important, as the points can obviously penetrate the mesh and they can work their way through the vinyl. That's not a shortcoming of this crampon bag, that's a shortcoming of keeping your crampons in anything other than a metal box. I like the daisy chain on the back; makes it easy to lash it to a backpack. It's much more convenient than the rubber tip protectors and if you use it like it's designed to be used, just as effective.

Poor design
I have Grivel G-12 crampons with New Classic bindings. This bag is way too small. The only way to realistically get them both in this bag was to take them apart and put them heel to toe. The plastic cloth material is also not that durable. My points poked through, probably because they barely fit in the bag. Also, no good attachment points to lash onto your pack. Bag is too small and not durable. Nice concept, poorly executed.

You gotta know when to fold 'em . . .

At first, we struggled to figure out how to get the crampons into the storage bag. After we read some helpful reviews on how to fold and position the crampons - voila! - they fit! First, we folded down the toe and the heel of each crampon. Next, slide the toe towards the heel to shorten the crampons. We placed the points together (crampons on their side) in a toe-to-heel position. This is similar to how new shoes are packed in their shoe box (though new shoes are typically laying on their side top-to-top, rather than soul-to-soul or point-to-point). Insert into the storage bag, zip it up, and head to the mountains!

Does what it should.

The BD crampon bag is a good, no frills, way to get your sharp stuff to the snow. I use these bags exclusively to get my gear to the trailhead, preferring to save weight by attaching my crampons to the outside of my pack after that point. The previous reviewer criticized the bag's size. All of my crampons (Grivel, BD, and Petzl) fit in the bag with room to spare. Perhaps he didn't own a pair of crampons that collapsed in the middle? My only complaint with this bag is that it could use a bottom sheet that was a bit more stout. I recently opened my luggage after a trip to find a crampon point poking through the bottom of the BD crampon bag. Remember to pack something durable underneath this (or any) bag.

Fits Grivel G12 with Long Flex Bars

Just received so I can’t comment on the long-term durability/performance, but it fits my Grivel G12 crampons perfectly; not too tight by any means. Materials look to be of very high quality and certain areas of the bag are made with a thick rubbery material where there could be contact with the crampon points. Overall seems to be very well designed with the front mesh panel to release moisture and will protect the other items in your rucksack from being damaged by the points.

Not too big, but not to small.

This bag is small enough that you need to break your crampons down to fit with in, ( just slide the heel bar back ) I also put my spikes heel to toe so they are facing each other so they don’t cut through. BD makes it just big enough but it can be a pain, especially with gloves on. The mesh vents very well and there are daisy chain loops on the back side ( it would be nice to have only the one loop point and save even more weight ) If your accent requires you to stash your points in your pack before your go, or your just looking not to rip your gear up at home this is a solution to your problem.

Not for your sneakers

Both my Black Diamond and Petzl cramons fit into this bag. The commenter that tried to fit his loafers into it was exceeding design limits. My buddy has Grivell's that do not break down in the middle, and they won't fit in this bag either. It's lightweight & does just what it says it does. I too have punctured the bottom of it by crushing it in the bottom of the pack on approaches, but it's smaller and lighter than the Osprey pouch. A great alternative to bungee cords, straps and sharp points hanging off the top of your backpack.

Good enough, not great, especially not at the cost

Been using two of these for my Grivel G10 and G12 crampons, always loading them with the pointy bits towards each other. I wish I could say it's 100% bulletproof (or in this case, cramponsproof), but they are more like 80-85% and I would still worry about the crampons tearing through stuff including this bag on the long run. And in all honesty, for the price they charge for these they SHOULD be 100% bombproof.

Best Crampon Bag

Can't quite figure out the other reviews. This bag is the perfect size for "new" crampons (unlike older longer bags by OR and Grivel which I have purchased). New as in since the late 90's. They fit my Grivel G12s, BD Neves, BD Contacts and my friends Cyborgs. They don't fit my fully ridged CAMP Foot Fangs. Very durable with a daisy chain to secure it to your pack. Bright orange so you don't loose it in the snow. Does the job well and at a decent price.

Sturdy Bag

Bought this bag with my dividend before an Easter weekend ascent of Wright Peak in the ADKs. I didn't like the idea of attaching my Petzl Vasak 12 point crampons to the outside of my backpack when not using them, which I've done before, so I finally wanted to get a bag. While some reviewers said the bag was small, I haven't had any trouble getting the crampons inside If you just put the crampons bottom to bottom and toe to heel, there is no issue. The bag is very stiff and sturdy and I felt confident that I could stack it in my Deuter Freeride Pro back without harming anything else in there. It really fit perfectly inside my pack which I was happy about. By the way, the color is orange, not yellow.

Great for anyone but total novices

This bag does exactly what it is meant for and for people who know how to pack crampons (90% of crampons on the market). If it was any bigger or sturdier, the extra weight would be an issue for mountaineers. Anyone who has common sense knows that before you buy a crampons case, specially if you have an older or oversized not collapsable crampons, you check the if it fits before you buy it. Or are they that narcissistic that they think that 99% of the people should have a bigger bag, just because their highness has an odd pair. Unbelievable!
