Have Had Mine a Long Time w/o Trouble

Given all the negative reviews I see here, I wanted to chime in with my positive experiences. I've had this pump for years--not sure how many, but it's been a while. It has been the best pump I've owned, especially with its twin head, which has always worked well for presta and schraeder (as long as you jerk the head a bit as you remove it to prevent air loss), and its ability to pump to any pressure quickly. I've even used it to tweak pressure on car tires without wearing myself out. The high-mounted gauge is pretty decent, too. Sure, I keep it in the garage and try not to abuse it, so none of the plastic bits have broken on me (maybe not so lucky if I kept it in the car). I'd give it 4.5 stars.

This thing is reliable for the long run.

I have owned this pump for so long I can't remember when I bought it. It has been the best pump I have ever owned, period. The one problem I have had is leaking, and today when I decided to take it apart and find out what was going on, I discovered that the top "nut", the plastic part that seals around the pump shaft, had come loose over time. All it took was hand tightning, and it is just like new. Sometimes it pays to look into what might be giving problems, rather than flame a product because the owner didn't see if something had come loose. My goodness, I did not even have to take the pump apart. Just give the plastic nut a one half turn with my finger tips. Now it is as good as all the other Topeak products I own.

skip this one

Topeak has great customer service, but this is a really lousy pump. Mine has failed twice in the 2 years I've had it, in spite of replacing parts they sent at no cost to me. Don't buy one of these if you're looking for reliability. Either buy something that's designed better or buy a couple so you can keep one working while waiting for parts for the other. This is the last Topeak product I plan on buying, please don't make the same mistake I did.

Not so sturdy

I rely on my floor pump daily. I travel with it to events. It must be sturdy, solid and work quickly and effectively. This pump just didn't fit the bill it worked well enough, but just did not meet my needs. I also found the action of the valve lever to be counter productive. The motion of pulling the lever to seal the valve tended to pull the valve off the valve stem. Most annoying and took an extra bit of care and attention to ensure a good fit. Not what I want when I'm in a hurry to get out on the road.

Powerful Pump

I've had this pump for several years and typically use it a couple times a week to get my road bike tires up to 125 psi. The valve connection works extremely well and the user set pressure indicator makes it brainless to get to a specific psi range. This floor pump works much better than the two previous floor pumps I've owned from other manufacturers. It's way above the last Blackburn pump I owened. The downside to this pump is that the frilly plastic geegaws like the clip to hold the handle down while storing the pump broke off in the first couple of months. I was able to rig a much better retaining clip for the handle with some heavy gauge copper and a brazing torch. Most people won't want to do that. I give the pump 5 stars for function, but caution potential buyers about all the plastic gimicks that might fall off or break.

Does the job fine

Our van has its own built-in air compressor but it struggles to give more than 35 psi - and our bike tires take 40. The Sprint pump travels with us when we take the bikes to wherever we're riding and works perfectly OK. Decent price. Wide enough base for one's feet to stabilize. Really like it that the pressure gauge is up high on the shaft where it can easily be seen. Two-way valve (we use the Schraeder) fits tight, releases without undue air loss.

Not exactly durable.

So, I've had this pump less than a year. The bleeder valve broke after about 1 month. The latch to hold the handle to the pump body (for transport/storage) broke off last month. Yes, I use it a lot but I also take very good care of my gear. I like the dual-head valve and the high-mount pressure gauge but I will buy something else when this one finally fails.

This pump BLOWS!

After 2+ years it has completely given out and stopped pumping air through the cylinder. This is the 2nd Topeak floor pump to break on me in 5 years. I've had enough--no more Topeak products, although never had a problem with their hand pumps. How can their hand pumps be so awesome and their floor pumps be terrible? Goodbey Topeak floor pumps--you BLOW!

Good for a few uses

I used my Sprint once a week during the short cycling season we have in the Northwest. Then a week ago, air refused to stay in the tire--the pressure in the tire and pump pushed the handle out. Thankfully, I bought it at REI. Meanwhile, my old Blackburn floor pump still works, even if it does leak a tiny bit as the tire reaches about 80 psi.

Poor design and quality

I bought this pump recently to replace a Serfas pump that has lasted me for many years without any issues. Big mistake! The old pump has a much better design and quality. This Topeak pump is difficult to engage with a Presta valve and seems poor quality and design. For me, it's back to the old loyal pump until I find a suitable replacement.
