Effective basic tool

First off, tool is well constructed, it really feels like it'll last a lifetime, and it's so small that I think it belongs in every cyclist's road bag along with a spare chain. But the downsides are: can be difficult to operate, due to small size, especially in dark/rainy conditions. I got pretty desperate at one point and applied enough pressure to break off the drive arm component of the device, leaving me totally screwed with a [$]dollar key chain. I reccomend this with reservation that this tool is good, but not idiot proof. signed, idiot. PS: got off the mountain 8 hours later.

Very Disappointing

I bought this tool and the corkscrew pin snapped during first use. I know a thing or two about working on bikes and this tool just simply isn't made for the real task at hand. Not okay for a tool that costs $17.

Park tools CT-5

Purchased the Park Tool CT-5 mini chain tool to break & resize a new Shimano chain for my road bike. As my experience has been with other Park Tools, this US made tool effectively does what it was designed to do and there are instructions included in the package as well as online for guidance. Park Tool even makes replaceable pins when/if you need them. A quality made tool that comes with a lifetime warranty.

Don't ride without it

Few things turn a bike ride into a walk faster than a broken chain. A spare link, and this tool fit in with the essentials on my compact saddle rail bag. You should never bend the pin if used properly, but the pin can back out from rattling down the trail, so use some medium strength thread locker to keep it intact. Spare pins are available, part number CTP.

Good quality

Works great. Just used it to swap out my worn chain with no problem what so ever. I'm a machinist but you don't have to be to have good luck using this tool! Park Tool is equal to the Snap-On of the bike world so I insist on their brand for quality. Replaceable driver tip is a nice attribute should it ever break. Small enough that I tossed it in my handlebar pack if I should need it on the trail.

Effective tool

Bought it to remove and add a chain... It works, you'll have to put more force into in then you'd expect to get the pins to come out but it works

You have to have one of these. The Park is well made and easy to use. Learn how to split, join and spread the chain on your doorstep, to reduce anxiety in the outdoors.

Well built low cost chain tool

Well built low cost chain tool. I had bought another one from Amazon from a no name brand and it broke quickly. This one from Park seems much better.

A decent chain tool for the price

If you want to change the chain on your bike when it wears out you need a chain tool. If you don't want to pay to much this is the one to get. I only give it four stars instead of five because the handle is some what small and hard to grip while turning.
