Horrible quality/durability
Defective jacket with a hole after one wear. North Face denied my warranty claim. Poor quality control and terrible customer service. Never buying again!
Soft and warm, my go-to puffer
I'm a 28yo male 5'11" with an athletic build, and I bought this jacket in size M (navy). Overall, this jacket is fantastic, super versatile, and exactly what you'd expect from TNF-reliable quality and performance. In 40-60ºF weather, it keeps me perfectly warm with just a t-shirt underneath. If the temperature drops below that, you'll likely need an extra layer. The insulation does a great job trapping body heat while remaining breathable. It handles light rain (typical Seattle weather) very well, as it's water-resistant but not fully waterproof. A minor downside is that I've noticed a few feathers escaping after a couple of standard washes, but this can happen with down jackets. Regarding pockets: Some reviews were unclear about whether it has an inside pocket, so let me clarify-it doesn't have a classic inner chest pocket. The jacket only includes two zippered side pockets. However, the lining of these side pockets isn't fully stitched at the top on the inside of the jacket. While this technically creates an extra "pocket," it's not designed for use, and you'll feel anything stored there when using the side pockets. Since the product doesn't advertise an inner pocket, this isn't a dealbreaker for me. The jacket performs exactly as promised, so it's still a solid 5 stars.
Great Casual and Active Wear Winter Jacket
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this Jacket! I was unsure of the color at the time (black was out of stock in the large size), but I am pleasantly surprised with it. I'm 6'2" 200lb with a muscular build and the large fits me perfectly. Narrower-built individuals may want to consider sizing down. It is very warm and insulates very well from wind. I wanted a jacket that I could wear over a hoodie or under my ski jacket and this accommodates both very nicely. External pockets are zippered and have a comfortable placement. Internal pockets are fairly spacious. Does not fold in on itself like an UL packable down jacket. Would recommend it for both casual and active wear. Probably not the best option for UL packing. Kept me plenty warm and comfortable in temperatures down to the 10-15 degree range.
Yes but I'd size down, still not sure if it'd fit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like most things about this jacket. The Thyme color is great, it's warm, the pockets are behind a layer of down so those are good too. What I dislike is the sizing and fit. I got a small which is my size in 80% of what I buy, and the remaining 20% of the time I'm a medium. I got a small in this jacket, and not only is it incredibly barrel-shaped, the waist and jacket are so billowy on me that it sits off my body a lot of the time. If I wore this as an outer layer with a substantial shirt - sweater - jacket combo underneath, it would fit correctly. But it's not marketed as being sized as an outer layer, and so that frustrates me a bit.
Excellent in cold weather
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent product. Very warm, and blocks out wind very well. Wore this coat while jumping a vehicle and changing a battery when the wind chill was -10. Just had a hoodie and t-shirt on under the coat and had zero issues dealing with the cold. The jacket is comfy as well. I am 5'11", 198 lbs and a L works very well for me. I chose a L as people had mentioned the sleeves tend to be short and I hate sleeves being too short. The L was the perfect length and the overall fit was very good as well. Not a fan of feathers randomly popping out, but if I had any complaints that would be my only one. Highly recommend this jacket.
THE Winter Jacket of 2021
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I originally ordered this jacket as a gift for my father. The fit was perfect, and he couldn't stop talking about how warm and comfortable he felt in it! I get nervous about puffer jackets because some can be stiff and restrict your mobility. However, this puffer was extremely comfortable to wear, and my fathers mobility wasn't restricted at all! This is THE perfect jacket to wear in the winter time. I highly recommend it to those who are thinking of purchasing. An extra plus is that it's very nice in style, and you can either dress it up or down. I loved it so much that I ended up purchasing one for my entire family (myself, my mother, and my younger brother)! Now we all have one!
So worth it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this when the winter months started coming in. Heard about reviews such as feather going out of the seams. I had a Columbia Lake 22 down jacket and that pisses me off when my clothes are so full of feathers. So I just went ahead and bought this one as an alternate and oh boy the reviews of feather going out and being all over is not true. Since a wore it no single feather getting out of the seams. It's a bit bulky and my Columbia brand is a lot slimmer but boy this is a lot warmer and comfortable it really does serves it purpose though this is more expensive than my Columbia it is really worth it. Now this is my primary down jacket and the others are just hanging in the closet.
Issues with color changing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am not picky and jacket fit great and I loved the color but I agree with other reviewers that the color was dirty around collar and stains showed up just wearing it out to dinner. I emailed support and Jesica told me no one had problems with color changing but after looking at reviews plenty of people had same problem. I just want a replacement but Jesica blew me off and told me to contact warranty. So disappointed in North Face!!! They need to own up there is a problem and not pretend there isn't. I have plenty of Patagonia and North face products I am a big skier but this the first let down!!
North face for life
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a really old tnf bubble jacket that I love. Has the icon sewed in left chest, and right back. This new one it's a completely different jacket . Don't even know if they still make the one I had . So the icon is now printed on the jacket . Still a good jacket just not what I was expecting
Never buy this product
I received the order one month back , wore it today second time and threads started coming out, called help line, they asked me to send to repair center at my cost and wait for reply. Chicago is going to be cold and nf wants me to be without jacket after spending such a big amount
