Excellent for Running and Daily Wear
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] “Wow, these shoes are amazing!” That is what my husband said after his first time wearing them. No breaking in required, wear well right out of the box, and are super supportive. He has worn these for both running/exercising as well as daily activities. He loves the cushioning, toe box, and the overall sturdiness of the shoe. For a running shoe, these are incredibly light weight yet have a ton of support. Only concern is how long the tread well last as he is quite hard on shoes. Overall though this is an excellent shoe, with plenty of support for running, but comfortable enough for daily use. He says he would purchase again.
Great Shoes!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got a pair of Brooks Revel 8 about 3 weeks ago and have been loving them! I am a casual runner and have been using them pretty regularly with no discomfort. It normally takes me a couple of uses to break in new shoes, but these were perfect from the start! I really like the Revel 8 cushioning. It provided good arch support for running and also everyday wear. The shoe also has a nice mesh upper design. It has been extremely hot where I live, so the mesh has kept my feet cooler. Overall, I have really liked the Revel 8 and am excited to continue wearing them. The design of the shoe has been great for my casual running and daily use. I would highly recommend!
Not a Fan
I've been a Revel fan since I got my first pair which was the Revel 3. It's been a good, light weight, neutral shoe. Unfortunately, the Revel 8 has been the worst iteration of this shoe. The new tread pattern is the worst as I'm an outside heel striker so where I strike there is no tread (after 2 runs the sole area is damaged due to the tread pattern). The top part of the shoe around where the ankle cut out is too far back so my ankle bone is actually hitting the top and rubbing. In addition, this might be the ugliest version of this shoe they've made. For me they keep getting further away from what this shoe was which is very disappointing.
Terrible
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The revel 5, 6 and 7 has been my go to sneaker love the stability it provides but the revel 8 is terrible. With each redesign of this sneaker the continue to destroy what once was great sneaker. The new revel 8 has high, hard back heel that digs into the skin and is very uncomfortable. The lace area has shrunk too and is pointy not wide enough. Read the other negative reviews but took the chance ordered because I love the older versions. The reviews were and wish the designers would read them. Please bring back the original revel as the new versions keep getting worse. Here is photo of the old soft heel vs the new hard heel.
Brooks Sneaker Rule!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently tried a pair of Brooks Revel 8 sneakers and found them to be very comfortable, with great heel support that lived up tot my expectations. They're lightweight and stayed cool even on warm days. As a mid-strike runner, not a heel-strike runner, it took a little longer to get comfortable with the forward slant and padded heel of the Revel 8 shoes compared to flatter models. It's not a drawback, just something to get used to - overall, they're a solid choice for anyone looking for a reliable running shoe.
Crease in toe cap
Classic brooks fit and quality with the exception of the “dents” in the toe cap. More prominent on one shoe than the other, there’s a permanent crease or indentation in the toe cap that rubs on my toe near the edge of the nail causing some discomfort on longer runs. After a google search, I found a few related threads and see this is a common issue in many recent brooks models, perhaps caused by a change to cheaper material? I’m used to it now, but still annoying given they used to be the best in the business.
My new go to shoe
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so excited to be reviewing the new Brooks Revel 8 shoe. I feel like as I've gotten older, my feet have gotten bigger and these fit great for size 13. It's nice being able to find a shoe big enough that also looks good. The grey color goes with almost everything and I really like how it looks on the foot. This is a sharp shoe. It's also super comfortable and I'm fine in it all day long, even wearing it to a theme park all day a few weeks ago. I highly recommend giving this a try. I think you'll like it too.
Comfortable for short or long use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been wearing the Revel 8s for a couple of weeks and they've been a great addition. The design is simple and effective, just what I've come to expect from Brooks. They are snug but breathe really well, especially when I wear them for long periods (2+ hours). The sole is very comfortable and it takes a lot of stress off of my knees, making each step feel like a natural movement. Nothing is forced or requires extra effort. They're not my ideal running shoe since they're a little heavier than what I prefer but they have become a great pair to wear on casual walks or when I workout. Really glad to have another pair of Brooks in the closet!
Disappointing Update
I’ve run in the Revel shoe since the first or second version. All updates to this point have been great, but these are disappointing and hurt to wear. The shoe digs into the outside of my ankles. The cutout for the ankle is too far back and the shoe comes up so high on the foot. Also, the part of the shoe that laces up is so short I cannot get the shoe snug in the toe box which is giving me added pain in my foot that is normally not there. I am going to have to find a different shoe as there is no way I can keep marathon training in these shoes. I wish I only bought one pair of these.
