As always, Salomon produced another great shoe. The materials are high quality and I would feel confident taking this shoe out in any weather. My only tiff has been noted by others but the upper hits on my lateral malleolus on both feet. Iāve put about 50 miles on them and itās still uncomfy at the beginning of runs but is going away faster and faster. Otherwise a perfect all condition shoe.
The Salomon AERO BLAZE 3 GRVL GORE-TEX shoes have quickly become one of my favorite all-around trail and gravel shoes. They strike a great balance between lightweight comfort and durability, making them perfect for mixed terrain like gravel paths, light trails, and even pavement. The GORE-TEX lining is a standout feature ā fully waterproof while still breathable, which has kept my feet dry and comfortable in wet conditions without feeling clammy. The cushioning is responsive and smooth, offering great shock absorption without feeling bulky, and the shoe feels nimble even on longer outings.

Had higher expectations for these runners, but unfortunately, they didnāt live up to expectations. The fit is quite tight and overall comfort was disappointing. While they do feel stable and secure for running, the lack of cushioning at the base of the foot becomes noticeable, especially on runs >4km, leading to irritation and discomfort. Build quality also doesnāt quite match the price point. Materials and finish feel a bit underwhelming, and I expected better from Salmon in that regard. The discomfort outweighs the benefit of the Gore-Tex finish.
I bought these shoes in November. Tried different lacing and even removing the insoleāno improvement. The membrane seems to flex oddly, causing a persistent popping/flipāflop noise that makes the shoe unwearable. Iāve seen similar complaints on the Elixer GTX, which I was considering as a replacement. For the price, this is disappointing. The colour is also much greyer than the online photos. Cushioning and traction are good, but the noise ruins the experience. Iāve worn Salomon for 30 years, and this is the first pair I simply canāt use. YMMV.
These Aero Blaze 3 GRVL Gore-Tex shoes replace a set of Salomon Pulsar Trail GTX shoes which had been worn out. Upper: The upper is a one piece affair with only stitching at the back of the heel on the heel cup. This is a nice feature to limit water ingress. The upper has proven to be water-proof on a few runs so this is good. The only minor downsides are the slight excess of material across the toe-box area (if you do not have wide feet or wear. thicker socks, this tends to bunch up), and the tongue could be slightly longer, as could the laces (as I use a runners knot), but that is not really a big deal. Overall the upper seems well made with clean stitching and no misalignment or glue marks. Midsole: The midsole is a step-up from the older foam used in my old Pulsar Trail GTX shoes. It is considerably more bouncy and give a lot more energy/spring back while running. With an increase in stack height and a concave cut-out below the heel, there is a lot of cushioning. There is a distinct rocker action when walking, but this is less pronounced while running. With the increase in stack height and the slightly narrow heel width, there is a small amount of 'wobble' when you first start to use the shoes as the midsole compresses quite a lot, but after a few kilometers, this feels goes away. Outsole: Low-level lugs in a fairly tacky rubber have so far given decent grip on gravel, loose woodland trails and tarmac. As the shoes only have 25 km on them, it is hard to know how durable the rubber will be. Overall, the Aero Blaze 3 GRVL Gore-Tex shoes are a decent improvement over my previous trail shoes, the Pulsar Trail GTX. They provide a decent level of energy return while absorbing trail intrusions such as stones and gravel without feeling this underfoot. Weight is also respectable at 298 grammes each. They are true to size (UK 10) with the only gripes being the slight excess of material across the mid-foot area, a short tongue and short laces, and have a slight unstable tendency at first use.
Prior to this year I was an inconsistent runner, once I got serious I started purchasing running shoes that were popular amongst bloggers & writers . Salomonās werenāt highly recommended but Iāve been a fan of theirs for a while so decided to give these a chance & I havenāt ran in these too long but from my experience so far I am impressed how comfortable they are & how stable they feel when transitioning terrain. I love the look & Iāve worn them twice on rainy days & although it was heavy rain they held up better than I expected.
Fantastic mid-sole that feels very similar to the Saucony Triumphs (20/21/22). A good mixture of nice cush with good return. I really enjoy the roomy toe box, which is opposite from the SpeedCross/Pulsar and others... I must congrat Salomon for accomodating mid to fore foot strikers with this shoe. The nice rocker makes it dynamic, reduces stride efforts, but keeps it under control, whereas others would force you to run unwillingly faster. Great for long easy to moderate runs. I've even used it for 6 x 1000m intervals (at roughly 4min/km pace) with ease. I use it exclusively for winter running where the GTX membrane will help to stay dry and prevent some heat loss (as a wind barrier). Stack looks much higher than it is. Let's see if we can get 1000km from the outsole.
The shoes themselves are very comfortable but like others have said, the ankle cutout is not in the right spot and the front of my ankle bone rubs. Also the also the vortex outer is nice but retains a lot of heat. Overall I like the shoes a lot, theyād be perfect if they fixed these two things!
These are great. Bought them for Army ROTC PT and they are perfect, do a great job at keeping my feet warm and dry on cold early mornings. Very responsive midsole, very bouncy. Outsole has been good on every surface so far, including sprints on grass and asphalt.
