I found these hiking boots comfortable right out of the box. I appreciate that they are lighter in weight than my pair of "men's" La Sportiva Nucleo High II GTX boots (bought men's version to allow for 2 pairs of wool socks in cold temps). I wore these boots the entire day and didn't having any issues with pressure points around the ankle or foot. They are plenty wide in the toe providing comfort when hiking. I did replace the insoles, as I always do, with a pair of Currex Runpro High Profile Insoles to help provide more arch support where I need it.
Living and hiking in the Rocky Mountains, I need a boot that will provide great grip, especially on downhill scree, while also providing ankle support and protection and being light enough not to tire my feet. A tall order. Other boots I've owned do all the above except the lightness. So far, these La Sportivas are fitting that bill. However, they run small even with going up a full size (normal for hiking boots) and need a breaking-in period.
I bought these boots used but were basically new. I wore them the next day on a 5 mile trail hike with 850 ft altitude gain. I have a bad knee. At the end of the hike I had no knee pain- very unusual, and no issues with my feet at all. I hiked almost everyday for the next week. These boots are the best hiking boots I’ve ever owned. I wear 8.5 wide. Bought size 41. PERFECT fit!!
This is the 2nd pair of Ultra Raptor II that I've purchased. The boots are sturdy, light, and comfortable. What I really like is that there is no bulky padding at the top of the boot above my heal, so nothing to rub. The fabric there is light and stretchy. Oh, they are waterproof/resistant, as well. I've hiked all over in these, including the Inca Trail.
These are great boots, at least for narrow feet. Size up. (I'm a 9/9.5 and had to return the smaller pair for a 10.) Once I got the right size, they fit perfectly and were comfortable from the get-go. I hike no longer than a couple hours at a time, sometimes on rock or uneven surfaces, but need good ankle support. They don't leave space around the ankle and have a fabric back above the heel that's flexible.
Perfect fit and light weight. Very comfortable.
I don’t normally hike in waterproof boots, but I needed a pair in addition to my other mountaineering boots for an upcoming trip where we’ll be tackling five summits in a foreign country. I’m unfamiliar with the terrain, and there will be snow and ice, so trail runners won’t cut it. From personal experience, I know La Sportiva shoes require a break-in period, and I’m okay with that. If ordering online, size up! This brand typically runs small. I got lucky with a recent ice and snow storm, which turned out to be the perfect opportunity to break them in. After three hikes—about 14.5 miles total—they were fully broken in and molded to my feet. They also worked well with my snowshoes and are now comfortable, sturdy, and keep my feet warm. I feel very secure going both up and down steep, rocky terrain, which gives me a lot of confidence heading into this trip.
I love these. They run true to size on me (8.5). Good grip, good weight, comfy, decent toebox (not like Altras but I can still fully stretch my toes), and they look good. I’ve had mine for a while but will definitely be repurchasing once the tread is gone.
I really wanted them to work, but they were too narrow, especially towards the toes. They gave me blisters on my two pinky fingers. I don't think it was a size issue because I sized up; they were just not a good fit.
Amazing shoes for walking and hiking streets and trails.
